Does blocking work with WW? I'm curious for both weapon block and shield block.
this is a good question, i would also like to know the answer

They both work at normal effectiveness. Defense is still applied too. It's like walking basically.
While whirlwinding, both shield block/weapon block blocks at its full effectiveness (75%, 60%), because whirlwind is skill movement.
It doesn't matter whether you are in walk or run mode when WW.
While walking, it is the same as WW above (full block, defense applied)
When you are running, it seems different.
Shield block reduces to 25% (1/3), defense seems to reduced to zero.
Weapon block reduces to 0%, and defense too.
With weapon block, you can never block anything while you are running.
It is better you make short WW when you are prone to ranged attack such as bone spirit, guided arrow.
