Upping Ethereal Items?

It was mentioned for one of my druid items that is ethereal. I have an earth Shifter that does 1.7k dmg and I haven't upped it. Somebody mentioned in a PK game that it would have godly dmg if I upped it. I ready somewhere that you can't up eth items or something about the eth not going away? Please can I get an answer soon, I'm anxious to up this item if it's possible. Also I need to know if I up an item how much the str requirements will go up.

I'm pretty sure it is a Thundermaul. Thundermauls are already elite weapons. So you can't upgrade it. You can upgrade ethreal uniqs though.

What about this zod bug i've ready about? I'm hoping to zod this hammer in the future but it has a 31 durability and I'm not sure if that has dur bonus and a zod will not work in it? Did they fix the zod bug?


Oh, and would it hurt to try to up it and see what happens??

If it is a thunder maul you Cannot upgrade it at all. I'm not sure which zod bug you mean. The one where you can zod it and then unsocket to retain indestructable? That one doesn't work anymore I think. If you mean another one I got no clue.

Also, if you are going to zod something you might as well make a ebotd Tmaul. More trade value at least. Actually, I think I have an eth Tmaul you can have if you get the runes.

The information posted above in responses is correct. The only thing I have to add is that if you are going to BOTD you should be going a different weapon. T-Maul is great for Titan-Barbs but not as great for druids. Your better off with the better swing speeds from other weapons actually.

Well, the purpose of the earth shifter is the +7 elemental skills. That opens up a whole new lvl of character for a shifter that uses elemental skills at the same time as having a huge hitter with fury. 400% dmg increase @ fury lvl 20, wonder what a 1.1k dmg weapon at 44 points in fury would hit.

1.1k is higher than the majority of botds and +7 to ele skills plus druids can get IAS and duel leach on other equip besides weapon.

earth shifter has 10%ias, thats 10 WSM, thats horrible. with shael, that would be -10.
thats max, 14/8 fpa fury.

you wont be revolutionizing druids unless you want druids to go slow all of a sudden.

damage may be great, speed is horrible. you may want to use an eth botd gpa which also requires less str. 8/5fpa fury, the damage is also interesting.

the only reason why people would use earth shifter is for its ele skills only. they may occasionally bash a monster with the weapon i would i assume, i dont know. people try to get an ethereal earth shifter for a lower str requirement, not for a higher damage. then they could hel it. +7 elemental skills.

my fury druid which utilizes an eth botd gpa hits 12k fury with HoW, 9k without iirc.

zod bug, this is about using the unsocketing recipe on an item that has been zodded in 1.09. the item keeps the indestructible mod. so.... assuming the item wasnt elite already.
1. you cant upgrade uniques to elite on nl.
2. earth shifter isnt in 1.09.

There are (were) 2 Zod bugs:

1.09 when if you Zod'ed an item with +%Duribility it instantly broke.
Early 1.10 when you could Zod an item, then remove the Zod, and still be indestructable.

Yeah, I was talking about the broke one. BTW, somebody mentioned in a PK game that i'm alt tabbed out from that Earth Shifters are not on ladder and if found on ladder had to be bugged in. Is this true? I don't think so becuase i've seen quite a few people with them and different stats but just checking...
