number os socket of hunter's bow

I socket a superior hunter bow on act5 quest, doesn't it supposed to be 4 socket according to arreat quide? It gives me 3 socket, what 's the problem?

Normal items add the max number of Sockets depending on the item's level (this is determined by the level of the monster that dropped it) and the inherent maximum number of Sockets for the item's base type. So you may not always receive the "max" number of Sockets.

Would it be a error on arreat guide? I got a ilvl 6x hunter's bow and socket it at nightmare q1 , it gives me 3 socket. this is the second time it gives me 3 socket, anyone ever saw a 4 socket hunter bow?

I got that same issue with an 7% ED ethereal colosus blade. Imagine my face when larzuk gave me the sword back with only 5 sockets... :cheesy:

I didn't heared about the problem mentioned here.

there is no problem or bug. My CB has so much sockets as it should has, couse its item level is not high enough for it to have 6 sockets. I found it in the ENTRACE of the pit, in tamoe highlands. There its impossible that a CB with 6 sockets naturally spawns. Therefore, larzuk will give you the max allowed sockets for its ilvel. If i would had found it IN the pit, not outside, it would had 6 socks, and i would be a few sojs richer.

Well I still feel strange here, I just socketed an great maul to 6s by hell larzuk. The great maul has item lv 64, dropped from late nm I think. If your CB been dropped in hell Tamoe highlands, it will be 69 or 72, anyway I cannot see why a 7x item get 5s and a lv64 item get 6s. And I still doubt if an eth cb did can dropped in Tamoe highlands???
