The true D2 addict that I am: I have to leave for work at 07:30 in the mornings but I get up at 05:00 to shower, shave, and be on D2 by 05:15. Well....this morning my efforts were rewarded. First 4 pinda runs.....squat. On my fith run.......Unique Hydra BOW......as I stared in disbelief.....wow. 5 More runs....nothing.....#10 gave me another Bartucks. I did 80 runs before I grew bored and switched to baba and though those were my 2 best finds I did gamble more +2 ammy's and a +2 baba helm and a 49 mana GC. Was a good morning 4 me.....just means that the next 6 weeks will stink.

Well i got my kick sin going last night. 86x life and about 45 kick dmg pvp. Buttt, i didnt even get to try her out really. I went into i bet 20+ baal runs, and not a single person would stay. Maybe im just used to low level pking were they will stick around till they see you, but then its usally to late. ;) I did get the nerve up to duel a lvl 44 enchanter(thanks bill for being the looter). I was a little scared, but after her merc shot me and it only did 20 dmg, i couldnt get her to come back out again. Even when she did she would just teleport in circles...Well im gana try some more today, then im gana lvl my sorc some. Shes lvl 16 right now. I want to get her up and going, so she can get me some items to fund my newest indervers(sp?):D

Hoping for a little help here from some of the more tenured Misfits. In the Guild Wars testing, we've established a guild with a combination of GAT members and Misfits called G.A.M.E. (GAT and Misfit Experience)

I was asked if I could come up with a short history of the Misfits that would help explain the origins to newcomers from outside of the Diablo world. I remember hearing some/most of the story in channel one time (I think it was Kev), but I didn't take notes at the time. :lol:

Sky came up with a 'poem' along the same lines as Walt's thread intro, but that really doesn't explain the beginnings of the Misfits. Any help is appreciated!

Here is part of the story that I saved in the past:

Origins of the name “Misfit”

Well Grim came up with the tag line: Isle of Misfit Players. It’s from a classic animated holiday show, Rudolph the RNR.

They still play it every year on one of the networks, but looks very dated. It’s done with stop frame animation. No computer graphics at all (ironic, humm?)

The basic premise of the Isle of Misfit Toys was they were all the rejected toys that didn’t fit in. So, the Isle of Misfit Players are the rejected players that don’t fit in with bnet.

Well my assasin just bit it. Went out to duel a barb, and a snap charger charged from right out side of town...All 860 life gone, one hit. THey hurt lol. Ah well, not really all that mad about it. Didnt lose that much with her...Had a few good duels with her. No ears but quit a few fluxes. I might make another one not sure. She was fun though. Even had a hard time getting duels. No one seemed to want to duel a kick sin, except the high life barbs, and the charger pallys. Although i didnt duel any chargers, one got me in the end anyways. :/ My next build may be a ll charger again, maybe 18 or so. Or a WW barb. I dunno, but i do need to get my sorc up and running meph first so i can afford these things. :D It was a loot duel, but he was only nice enough to give back the angelics...Guess thats more then most would give back.

Just went 2 get my daughter from my father-in-law's and noticed low the moon (which happens 2 be FULL ) was... usually @ this time of evening the moon is around 70-80 degrees position wise... this evening its closer to 30 degrees... just wondering how this affects the oceans and waves... I bet they must be massive swells all over..

Lived on or near the beach most all my life and though the moon sometimes affects the waves......it tends to do more with the tides than anything. Tide right now is super high and over last 2 full's it was super low. Been outta school for a bit but I believe they are called Neap and ebb tides. As a fisherman......I tend to hate both.

Very true. Luckly as soon as i get my sorc lvl i can start with hell meph and hell and nm andy. With a shako, viper, upgraded visc, tals belt, wizzy. I should be able to run them pretty safly untill i get enough to trade for a full tals set right? As long as my resists are max, and what is the life i should shoot for?
Life - I would shoot for @ least 850-1K HP... you should be able 2 achive this around lvl 88+ dependent on your gear of course. Including an anni for both rez/attrib and maybe some vita charms...

Sounds good. If we dont get this diablo clone thing going, i guess i will strip my sin then since i only have one anni and its on her. O well, i was planning on retiring her as soon as i hit 90 anyways(shes about 4/5 the way to 90).\
Im going fishing with a couple friends today at my grandmas house. Her pond is full of 5+ pound cat fish that she wants out because its making it muddy, and she cant see her gold fish in there anymore.(Im not gana be the one to tell her that the gold fish have probably been eaten by that cat fish...some one else can do that lol)Then im going to the relay for life here in town, but ill be back later tonight.

I know about Rudolph and the Isle of Misfit Toys. I guess what I don't know, is why the original misfits felt like misfits. Because they weren't duping, hacking, or botting and everyone else was?

Well I did a REALLY enormous and unforgiving mistake.... I accidently deleted my Necro : DaeDaLus_Reign.... I thought I clicked the CREATE new char button... to start a new pally... then next thing you know... POOF...... ARGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe I did that...

Misfit101 class taught in college cuz i swear we could write a book. we have had both good times and drama, from our humble starts with grim, ab, grock, etc.. to who holds the reigns now while some of us sprout roots in other venues.... which reminds me, walt, susan, kyle, kat, etc... I tip my hat to you for holding the fort down ;)

I lost my 85 Whirlwind barb this morning....it doesn't really matter how when you get down to it. However, for the record it was an afflicted boss in Hell Catacombs level 3. There was a gang of afflicted minions with him, one thing led to another, I wasn't quick enough with the full rejuvs while those circular blob thingies were pounding me, and next thing you know I'm toast. That floor is cold, my friends.

I am glad that all of you Misfits took me in. I was playing D way back when the Misfits were born, but didn't know of you and hadn't made the connection. I just want you all to know that I feel real good about meeting all of you, and if I haven't yet had the pleasure of playing a game with you then I look forward to doing that in the near future of course. I guess I first connected with you all indirectly when I met Kat a long time ago, and Kat kept telling me I had to get in here and post, it just took me a few years and I am glad I did. Kat, I don't know exactly how long ago that was, but I still remember when I stumbled into a game with you!! Must have been what 3-4 years ago? It's hell getting old I can't remember anything anymore hehehe.

At any rate, I was just really pleased to find that there were folks playing Diablo who were just good people with common sense and a more realistic attitude about life and the game, and had a lot of the same feelings I did about what it is and what it isn't.

Anyway, time to keep working my 51 hammerdin and my 20 sorc and my 46 necro and my etc. etc. etc. Hammerdin equipment will be appreciated!! :rant:

RIP for your WW barb Norm...

I started a vengeance pally, but I screwed up on the skill section - and what do u think I did... yes - I suicided him @ normal Hellforge... I just ran up 2 Heph and his group and just started swinging... no regards 2 my pally's safety @ all... It took bout 5 min - finally the Deeds screen showed up..

Afterwards, I started a new sorcy - got her killed in some fashion :thumbsup: Lvl 16 or something...

Got a Norm PA from Kyle, Rach also assisted with my PA after he was done muling in the game... that sorcy is now Lvl 20... Kyle will prob do some cows for me.. also got 2 game w/ Jeff aka JSteel... and Helzcaretaker.

Hope every1 had a good weekend...

Does anyone here still play 1.09 characters or is everyone on the ladder? I'm considering clearing out some of my non-ladder stuff since I have so many mules and I'm not even playing non-ladder. Getting tedious refreshing the mules all the time. :)

I took all my old .09 mules, went in a game, and droped it all, then i went to a hell game, droped all charms, hostiled everyone in the game, gave them all loot, and ran outside and said come get my items. And tried to stay alive as long as possible. I didnt kill anyone, but i could have lol. But anyways thats how i got rid of my .09 stuff. Heck, even if you go back to non ladder right now, its VERY empty. THere is hardly no games at all.

Well, ill be working on my sorc today. Im gana norm baal her till about 45, then im going on to nm. She should be up and running hell meph within the week.

Does seem like a long time ago...oh wait, it WAS! You were wearing such crappy stuff, & I felt so sorry for you. I gave you some stuff (which I thought was really good, but later learned it wasn't all that hot), then a few days later, I was trying to give stuff away, and everyone was so rude. When I saw you that night, I demanded that you let me re-dress your char., you laughed, and a friendship was born. We have been good ever since. Drunken D at 4am. Running into town while we both let our doggies out. You are still the best buddy. I'm really glad I gave you that name...'cos nothing could be further from the truth :lol: . I got some pally stuff (you always did love your pally's) you can have. I'll see you soon.

haha, shes got a softball game so i got all night to myself...My parents are even gana be gone most of the night. Well, i was having fun at the pool, ended up seeing a couple of girls there that im friends with(one is an x-girlfriend but i still get along with pretty well) and i was having a good time. Well i was changing to leave, unlocked my locker, got my clothes out, but my wallet fell out into the inside of the locker, so i just shut the door with out locking it, and went and put on my shorts real fast in a stall. Well i came back out and my wallet was gone. Friend didnt have it, i checked every locker nothing. I asked up front and no one had turned it in. I looked in the locker room for about 10 mins nothing...I had about 25$ in there, my permit, and the wallet was a 20$ wallet(got for christmas). So now im not sure if i can take my drivers test with out my permit. I might have to take the written test all over again since i dont have it anymore...:( So i still have to call the license buero(sp?) to see. It was a pretty good day untill then. O well atleast i had fun. Cant really beat hanging out with girls in bikinis...and i can still look but just not touch. ;)

Supposed to see a guy about a trang belt for 10 or so SOJ's (non-ladder). If he indeed does trade, U can have it since I found 1 for my necro a couple days ago. Its some new cheat feature blizz added, you cant switch chars to much to fast, you gatta give some time in between them. Im not sure on the exact times you can switch before it does it, or how long you need to give in between.

Alrighty, so with my new cable modem, I was apparently switching games too quickly and now when I try and log onto Bnet it tells me my modem isn't connected, anyone know how I can clear this up?

At least I learned something about this tonight. :)

A good rule of thumb that I always used was to wait 6 seconds in the lobby before entering the game with a different character.

Np sir....well I have a few sorcy orbs that are +2 all skills and I think I have 2 or 3 ammy's with the same +2 all if you need one. I also have a +3 fire skills ammy.....and maybe a +3 cold. Let me know...yours if U want them.

EdI've gotten realm down on several occasions... usually when I'm trying 2 refresh mules and such... it kicks in after 4-5 chars if I pop in and out too quickly...

The reason you haven't experienced it b4 was prob b/c u were on dial-up... and there's enuf delay to avoid lockdown.

it used to happen to Opal and myself on a daily basis..... when you log onto the 3rd char on one acct log off b.net then log back on thats how we avoid it you can choose 10 chars all on seperate accounts and not get cannot connect but when you get 3-4 on one acct you get it so after the 3rd just log off and log back on.

Thx 2 Kyle for a few norm cows to get my sorcy to Lvl 24... then Ancients after that...

Later on that evening, a group of us got some norm baals in... group included

Jeff, Kyle, Rach, Prez, Carlos and of course - myself :jig:

My new sorcy is now Lvl 35, TempTed-XXX.

Hopefully I should be on sometime this evening and I'll either work on this sorcy or run some Hell Countess w/ my sin...

I'm prob gonna stay in norm till @ least 42.... which happens 2 be my FAV number....

mmm, thinking of another foray into D2 again...

Not sure what build to go either....I was thinking of a really fast crush tank bear or something.

Namely max lync, bear and probably oak. Don't particualry care about the other skills......probably into maul.

Was thinking shaeled barnards, jalah's, raven, and something like gore riders for the crushing. If I get the runes I'd make duress just for fun. Probably throw in some ias jewels around the gear to get my maul attack below 10fps.

Logged on 2 am this morning, found 10 accounts of expired characters :p Managed to salvage my sorcy, b.o. barb and enchantress plus (quite) a few random characters and mules :O No one on my list was on (Veri, Jim, Jim2nd, Jim3rd, Jim4th and so on, Kat, Jeff, Dub, Way, Sky, Grim...)... Hellooooooooo, is anybody out there????????

Anyway, the time away from d has been taken by guitar playing, getting better everyday :p (still sucks though)

To Kat, I haven't listened to the Detroit bands you suggested, but I have been wandering into the world of punk music as you once recommended, slowly graduating from the Clash, Romones and Sex Pistols to The Hives, the Strokes, the White Stripes, Pixies, Dinosaur Jr. and likes.

In case I forgot to thank you guys for the wonderful suggestions you made last time, I appreciate all your kindness. It opened up my eyes, and let me see there are more than just Classic Rock and Metal o_O

Hope to catch you guys online sometime in the near future (90% of my f list seem to have migrated into "lesser" games :()

The White Stripes are from Detroit. Go to detroitnoise.com, and you can listen to free music (or you can download for free, they WANT you to). Have you tried Iggy & the Stooges? That was the start of punk. And it happened right here in good ol' Detroit.

I've wondered where you have been. Sky and I have been testing the alpha for Guild Wars, in case you didn't catch that in any of the threads. I've always thought that you would be perfect for the testing. You're really good at analyzing data on weapon and skill damages. You would be perfect for trying to find skill exploits. ;)

I play at the guitar myself once in a while.... which is far different from actually playing the guitar. Hope things are well for you! Take care and stay in touch!

Sup everyone. Well, as I have said before I am most certainly the luckiest person on the planet when it comes to D2.

I've been playing on west for 2.5 weeks. I really just kind of wanted to start fresh and see how long it would take to get to having "upper class" wealth.

I started with a Summoner necro and lvled with crap gear up to lvl 60 or so. At that point I started Doing NM cows to get P.Gems. After a week I had full Trang and some other goodies (Arm, and Dwarf, some other stuff). I lvled some more and moved onto running Hell countess at lvl 75. Yes, running Hell countess is SUPER slow with a summoner, but also very fun. The best runes that dropped in 47 runs was Lumx2, Helx1, Ko, few Shaels, few Sols, few Amns, rest was crap. Then I got lucky.

A +1 Java skiller with +37 life dropped from a random moster. with that I got a Shako+Tal armor. Sorc time... well, I made a Trap sin first for Pit running, but it was only a day of that before I started making my MF sorc (and also got losts more P.gems to trade for resists gear and rings).

I got lucky once joining a "Freeee" game to get a Dwarf (15MDR), Viper, and the unique elrich orb. After a day of lvling She had:

Shako, Tal armor, Tal Orb, Tal Belt, Ryhme, Dwarf, mana/dex ring, Frosties, Rare boots with resists and mf, +1skills/mana crafted ammy (made myself :D), and some decent life charms. At lvl 71 I started running NM meph with 307% mf. After 15 or so runs a unique ring drops...... yes, it WAS a Soj.

20 mins of trading later I have a Tal Ammy and a SS (unided). Some say I traded it modestly, some say I got a good deal, but hey, if NM Meph dropped you a SS and a Tal ammy at the same time, you would be happy, lol.

So, now I have sorc with full Tals, SS, and the works, and a Full Trang necro (with a nice +1 necro/resists ammy that i crafted), and a Sin with Shako/Viper/+3 claws with jade Sig's sheild on switch/+1 skills pris ammy.

I'm thinking I might Perm all my mules on East and West and see how long it takes to do the same on Euro, lol.

Its not fair dirty....its just not fair. You have more wealth on your secondary realm then i have ever had in my d2 career...:P

Well im restarting my sorc. I kinda screwed up, i thought i would need something to kill cold imunes, but i dont since she is gana be purely for running meph. SOOO that meens i get to restart my sorc. I guess im going to go max FO, max CM, max frozen bolt, max Telek. And the the rest, e-sheild, warmth, static...so on...O well she was only lvl 53 anyways. :/

Well my parents just sold my car again lol(i believe this is the third one they bought me and then sold). They didnt like how the engine ran...Well, now they are looking at a 97 honda civic for me :D. Its on ebay atm. I just gatta hope it doesnt go to high. My parents told me if it goes above 2500$ i have to put what ever the difference is on it(hoping it doesnt go above 3000 because then i cant get it because i wont have enough for insurance for the first 6 months...).

My take on yoru sorc build:

Orb 20
Ice Bolt 20
Telekenisis 20
ES 1 (yes, 1!!!)
Shiver Armor 1
Teleport 1
Static 5~more
Warmth 1

I only put 1 in ES because with a few +skills you get it to 50% and even that with max Tk can drain your mana in a second in hell, I think it's better lose a little health, and be able to tele away safely. High ES also negates any dmg-to-mana gear you have.

I suggest putting the rest of your point into Static or TP.

And get a good Merc. Gaze/Tals helm, G.Bane, Reaper's Toll (I can give you all this stuff, even the Gaze). The guy will be a tank-o-matic

As I've said before, I suggest doing NM Meph. Where is the gear I suggested using in another thread:

As for gear?

For someone just starting out:

Tal Mask (P.Topaz)
Tal Belt
Tal Orb (the three give a nice boost to life/mana/resists/FCR/+1 skills with 99-104 MF)

Ryhme Shield (LOADS of good mods, Resist/CBF/ 25MF)
Rare Boots with resists, and maybe some MF
Frostburns
Dwarf/Raven or Mana/Resists rings
An ammy with resists and maybe some +skills.

The armor is a Tough thing. A viper with a P.Topaz would give some nice mods and 24% MF for a total of about 150% MF give or take some. If you need the resists this is good. Some think like Nat's Amor with 3-socs with P.Topaz's will get you to about the 200% MF make as has some decent mods (nice life boost).

Another option is Wizzy (if you can get it) and Whistan's Shield (P.Diamond) with Gull Dagger or Ali baba and Ryhme on switch.
This would net you about 200~250 mf with guarenteed max resist, super fast Teleing, and easy max blocking.

I'm sure we can get you up to like 300% or more.

Well i have a viper, and a shako, and tals belt, and wing is gana give me a wizz. I also gana use an upgraded Visc with a p diamond. and tals belt. Im not sure on what helm, ammy or rings, or boots im gana use. I have an extra pair of waterwalks, and a sandstorm trek also. I could take the time and trade some of my stuff for runes, and cube them up and get a tals ammy. I dunno, but right now i can pretty much have max resists(i have a ton of resists and life charms on my sin wich i am stripping as soon as i get this sorc up and running) Also i should have quite a bit of mf. I will have a ryhme and not sure what else on switch(i might have ali baba laying around not really sure.) But i am building this sorc stat wise around tals set. I want to eventually be wearing the full tals set.
And my build is basicly like that, although im also maxing Cold mastery.

Also a silly thing..... did u happen 2 place an item that might have a magnetic field near your comp that would affect the display... :jig: You might wanna look into that...

I forgot about CM. I put 10 in there and I take Hell Meph down with a full tal setup in a flash. You might think to invest the other 10 points else where.

I also have like 7 Wizzys if you need one. I have the Nat Amror, Ali's, extra Ryhmes. And I have a slue of nice rare boots with resist and MF. Forget those clunky uniques, I'd use my Rare boots over 50% Travs anyday.

As for your shield, you should seriously forget the Vis. Use a Whistan's(p.diamond) or a Ryhme. With Whistan't you need zilch dex fro max block. With Ryhme you get better resists, CBF, Mana regen, it's a great shield. the +1 skill is not worth it imo.

If I were you I would use:

Shako (P.Topaz 74MF)
Nat Armor (72MF) (I have this, and bill has if I don't)
Rare boots (23MF just from what i ahve on my mules)
Frosties
Tal belt (15MF I have a 15er)
Ali /w MF jewels (at lvl 75 75MF + 15Mf at least)
Ammy with resists, or +skills and life
Raven/Dwarf (don't question it, jsut use these rings and no others unless you have a Wisp or Natures's)

With Wizzy/Whistan's or Rythme (I prefer Ryhme) on swtich, that is 274% MF, and I'm sure we can find you some mf charms, I know I have an extra Gheeds. Maybe I'll let you use my 40% one :D.

that is 300%-315%+ any other mf charms you can dig up. You will find Items to your heart's content with this set up.

You should have 800(+/-) life and 650-750 mana with this gear. With a good merc you will be in fine killing style. And until you can afford a SS, MF NM Meph for pete's sake. It's sooo much safer. Save Hell for Ful Tal's and SS.

On that note, all my sorc's have 126 base str fro SS (you can wear it with the 30 str bonus from the shield once you get it on with +str from other gear/charms).

Wing, I have a another monitor that I'm going to chk it with. Even the on-board monitor menu comes up wavy, so I'm thinking its the monitor and not the vid card.

Don't think that its a magnectic field, it went KAPUT while I was setting there typing, didn't move or set anything down around it.

Pfft...I work off of Fixed Price Contracts...so its all out of my pocket! :hanky:
