whats so great about straf zons?

I am amking my first one and I am lvl 30 and I have about 11-12 points into it so far. I was kicking butt in noraml acts 1-3 and cows I have my dex at 90 now and I started to slow down my killin speed. I then got the use of a bow that game me exploding arrows and 3 to immolation now I find that just using regular shots and with my gear lvl 7 immolation kills a hell of a lot faster than strafe does.

Now the only good use that I have for strafe is to kill those fast little guys in act 4. other than does I do better damage with those skills. So is it even work it to max strafe anymore??? I know that you can shot a lt of baddies at one time with it but you only get 3/4 of the damage so why do so many people make strafe zons?

The reason is the have a lot better bows than the Kuko. They are using Upgraded Witch Wild Strings and Windforces. These have significant physical and or Magic Damage on them. They let Strafe fire at 2 frames/arrow. I'm not sure what the fastest you could fire immolation, but I think its around 8 or 9 frames per attack. Thus, even if they are doing half the damage you are per arrow, they are still doing more damage than you because they can fire more arrows and hit more often.

Not to mention that firing more often also helps mods like Crushing Blow which take off a % of a monsters life with each hit. Its why Assassin's love DTalon, they can kick at 2 frames per kick.

Whenever you think about damage, you have to think about it in damage over time.

Immolation has a casting delay so that limits your firing speed significntly.

The fact that you are only level 30 is an issue. You aren't quite into the realm of the bows that make a Strafeazon shine. Your Kuko is a nice bow for where you are in the game but there are bows to come, and soon, that will absolutely blow it away. Be patient and stick with careful development of your build. Remember to focus on your IAS breakpoints too. You'll really appreciate the speed of a fast bow and a 2 frame Strafe. It's one of the most amazing, and fun, attacks in the game. You need to work on that 120% IAS breakpoint, you won't regret it. You'll enjoy the constant comments you'll get from other players about the machine gunning Zon you have.

lol ppl say how rapidly i strafe with my WF pit runner and she strafes at 10/3 :D

(plus she has the anni bug so others can't actually see her bow:D)

You should get your ias up to 90 then see which kills faster. I also used the koku at lower levels before I could use better bows & strafe rocked once I got to 90.

Also, as you raise strafe up, not only does it fire up to 10 arrows, the minimum number of arrows also increases. I think that with even 1 enemy on the screen, I shoot 7-8 arrows at level 26.

@Dr.G - plz dont judge a skill when u have ~6 points in it and an inferior bow - +skill attacks, like FA need a vastly different bow than bow/gear damage based skills like strafe :D

Actually I don't think 10/3 is really that much different from 9/3. 3 Strafe is really fast enough. I do love the 9/2 breakpoint though. Problem is that when I hit that point I am pretty much a glass cannon. Very low life with that gear on but I rock in parties though.

Couldn't belive it before, when I was an avid MS lover..now I am a converted Strafer...and it is so much in the equipment and level. My Kuko/Lycanders Immozon with a bit of MS on the side is just so painfully slow killing at lv 78. She only has average gear and I never botherd to twink her really..so I guess she has room for improvement.

Then there is my lv 85 Strafer with the "usual" upgraded WWS and 86 IAS for 9/2 Strafe with close to max res in Hell..and she is just so much different, so much more fun and so safe.. (HC Ladder).

Just wait until you are higher lv and have better gear (like the ppl here said)

can only confirm that. i used kuko all through nm with my immo-strafe-son and wiped entire packs with 1 immo arrow piercing through anything. i almost gave her up in hell cuz the killing speed sucked with lycanders and i spent lots of points in str for hellrack so i lacked dex.
and she was fragile as hell :)

then i found an eaglehorn and switched gear to cb, ow and ds while increasing ias. she turned out to be a true killer @ hell act5 solo.

i strongly suggest equiping your merc with reapers toll. decrep owns so bad with a strafer and even pi-fi mosters are killable.
