Okies,

Here goes. As the title suggested, I'm a bit unsure where to post this, but this seems ok. I'm a part time d2 player - and I don't play online. In other words, I'm a n00b and I don't speak the lingo, either. Right now I'm playing a bowazon, she l75 now, and hardcore. I've read that HC characters can only join HC games - which is fair enough. But I've got a friend who just started playing recently, and, relishing the opportunity of playing alongside someone who is even a bigger n00b than me, I started looking for something that enables me to play with him (on a LAN). Are there trainers out there that can strip the HC property of the character? I've had a look around but all I can find is stuff to up my stats give me items or whatever - but that's not what I'm looking for... Can anyone help me out?

Better yet.....

...get your friend to make a hardcore character and play with you

(presumably you can help him avoid too many early untimely deaths)

If you have a program that lets you dump items and build custom characters (ie place stats and skills, assign level, assign quest status, etc) just "dupe" your entire character through gear transfers (ie export off your current zon, import onto new zon) to a brand new non-hardcore "blank", and give them all the stats/skills they should have.

Why will this not work? If it's off realms, dupe to your hearts content.

I think this is a question for the single player forum. I know for a fact that a program called "Shadowmaster" could do this for 1.09 D2 (I used to play a lot of SP, I made blanks of each character at high level with every skill maxed so I could compare damage... useful for making sorcs especially), and I suspect that ATMA (or a similar program) could do the same for 1.10.

Best of luck.

I think this is a question for the single player forum. If you ask this question on the SPF be prepared to have your pants flamed off, your post instantly closed, and yourself banned from the forums. Those folks are radically legit.

Ultimate Diablo Item Editor II allows you to simply check a box (or uncheck, in your case) to change to/from hardcore. Use at your own risk and I don't support it and blah blah blah etc.

Well, there are always someone to ask editors, they will be told that SPF is not the place to get it.

Im not sure what you really want, but my SP experiences with lan was about.. how to get new friend past softcore.. Take floppy disk one hc char and copy it to your friends saves and voila.. hardcore enabled to all new chars..

But somehow i read that you want convert your hc char to sc? Or am i totally missunerstanding here.. or items at least..

Most fun way to play with newbie, is to play game with him in sc(i usually do it in hc, but that just me) and with no hurry, many times those newbies go all very confused especially in act 2 where you run here and there come to this tp, get staff.. amu.. etc.. hehe
questing in proper order, walking to next place getting all wps.. newbie gets a picture how the game is played properly.. later, when he/she have done it thousands of times.. maybe starts rushing.. hehe

Well, thank you all for the information you gave, or the information you wouldn't give me. I understood full well what a strange question it was to post on a forum dedicated to HC players. About the whole 'legit' thing - I totally agree - I don't want cheated items, skills or levels, it ruins the game - and I want to continue playing this character hardcore on my own pc, although I'm ****ting my pants for duriel - that ***** will tear me apart. I shall try to copy my saves to his pc and see what happens, or I will seek the suggested trainer. To the guy (?) who told me to create a brand new non-hc character - I'm not that much of D2 player to begin with, and SP to boot, so level-upping goes slow - it took me hundreds of hours spread across over a year to get this far; I would do some acts, some boss-runs, get bored, not touch it for months and then have another go. I truly don't want start another character either till this one is DEAD or max level, I need to close the book before I can even think of another 'build' as you would say.

Anyway, thanks again, and have fun killing (and dying).
