hi,

i want to tweak my "special smiter" and have some ideas/questions that need to be clarified before i use runes or swap stuff around.

first, is crushing blow definitely capped at 95%? i haven't found a definite source for this yet.

then, http://strategy.diabloii.net/news.php?id=539#Smite says that smite damage is enhanced by +% dmg outside your weapon which is just not shown in your char screen. if i made a duress armor then its +% dmg would help my smite? along the same line, does laying of hands' damage to demons help my smite damage when smiting demons? has anyone done tests on this? testing with a zakarum shield without holy shield should be perfect for its 46-46 smite dmg. however, i want to spare me the effort if it has been done already.

Post this question in the pally forum I am sure this is also covered in the FAQ sticky. Redeemer and the Unique Caduceus with + damage mods are the only items with + damage mods that boost smite as I remember. Duress is new so maybe it works as well, not sure. The CB on Duress will help though.

the link i posted is the paladin faq. specifically, i wanted to know if this +% dmg to demons works as well. according to the faq duress should work but will loh?

any insight on the crushing blow cap?

There is no cap on Crushing Blow. At 100% or higher the effect is automatic.

So the +damage modifier in, for example, a fleshrender, doesn't work for smite? Only in a Redeemer or Astreon's? Is that right? Strange, isn't it?

It's not strange, because in the .mpq files they are different mods, that's why they behave differently.
