View Full Version : What's so special about bloodfist gloves?

Ok, I have a pair of these and they don't seem very special. Sure the 10% increased attack speed is good for chorbesses and the like but I have seen meteorbs using them too. Is it the 30% faster hit recovery? Sure that's nice but I have to admit I don't even notice that when I have them on. The only other thing I can think of is the 40 to life, but that can be solved with 2 sc. Thanks in advance for your help.

IMO the 30% FHR is the kicker, as I don't know of any other gloves that have that mod off the top of my head, and having plenty of FHR on a melee char is generally quite useful. As for sorcs wearing them...I have to agree that seems a little useless

Sorcs dont get FHR easy. they focus on +skills and FCR. For me, the bloodfist are best sorcerer gloves unless you are using fire (then magefists are better). You can get the needed FCR from other gear, but your FHR will be hardly gain. and 30 is quite a lot... (And you NEED FHR to be able to tele after a hit, or you will be dead for sure)

True, sorcs don't come by FHR very easily, but at the same time, it shouldn't be a strong concern. As you said, they're more concentrated on +skills and FCR. I find having 105% FCR is much more efficient in terms of survivability than having lots of FHR. When you hit that 105% breakpoint, you really don't get hit much at all while teleporting. My lvl 91 meteorb has 105% FCR for teleporting, and I've got only 20% FHR (sandstorm treks) and I have no problems surviving whatsoever.
This could be different for PvP, but this is beyond me, as I only PvP with the occasional friend, so I can't really say.

Some like the FHR, since this will also help you escape attacks, but only after beiing hit. With high enough FCR you can even escape such eventualities.
+40 Life is very nice. I usually use those gloves for lvling since in the beginning 40 life and 30 FHR is very nice 8)
Otherwise its always Magefist no matter if the build contains Fire or not.

30% FHR is the breakpoint for 10 frame hit recovery (base is 15 frames), so Bloodfist are kinda nice there. +40 life also never hurts.
Personally, I never use them though, one of the main reasons being that I almost always use ES and ES has this nice property that it reduced damage to such an extend that you'll never get into hit recovery, thus rendering FHR irrelevant.

Are you sure you do not mean magefist ? Bloodfist is certainly used by barb duelers, because the total stats are quite nice.
However for a sorceress the IAS is NOT useful. In 1.10 lightning is based on FCR not IAS. The +5 min dam is not useful.
Basically you get +40 life and 30% FHR, both easily achieved with charms. For any sorc it is a cheap glove, but easily beaten by a decent rare.
I can see blizzard sorceresses not using magefist since they do not need the +1 fire, or FCR or mana regen.
The fact is there are no better uniques for a sorceress than xfist. A cold/lightning sorc could also use trangs.
Only gloves that give +40 life. Then comes Ghoulhides, but those are +20. :whistling:
Anyway, sure you could just slap two life scs in your inventory and call it a day, but then you would just be breaking even. When it comes to +life - you never really can get enough of it.
Also, the life is BOable. Reminds me of .08 Bul-Kathos rings. :scratchchin:
EDIT: Sorry for the bump - didn't realize this was so old (and there is no "delete post" option)
