the one that you have most fun on!

Really, it depends on how good your connection is, how skilled you are, and how confident you are at dodging attacks and in general not dying.

If you are good at avoiding death, you can make a sorceress.. they have awesome killing power, but are frail unless you have really good items with +life bonuses and such.

my favorite safe/lazy build is the skellemancer.
Just max skeleton warrior, skeleton mastery, go all the way up the curse tree, and put as many as you want in revive. When you want new skeletons, just go to an act 1 place (cold plains, stony fields, etc) and kill some monsters easily and load back up. The advantage to skelemancer is you can always hide behind your minions. This means that you dont need a whole lot of life or resists to survive (although these things are also very useful) you just need to be good at running away and be relatively good at using curses.

as best as I've been able to figure it out, HC in 1.10 is like this

Skelemancer=easy, safe (as already noted) cheap build.

Hammerdin=great mf'er, decent tank, somewhat expensive build.

ES/TK/ insert other sorc option here= Great tanks, but I haven't built one, so I don't know much about them.

Melee chars (barbs/druids/pally's/your unique build here)=most people will tell you that melee chars don't do well in hell, but I have a frenzy/mace barb Guardian and a holy freeze/zealot paladin working on guardian. Not necessrily great for beginners, but I have much more fun with the melee char's.

Trapsin= you can run a very powerful trap assassin using some real "ghetto" gear (+3 traps claws, circlet, ammy, etc) most of which can be gathered by gambling. The fade skill pretty much takes care of your resists, and a life charm or ten will keep you in good stead.

of course most of these are 'cookie cutter' builds, but as previously noted, play what's most fun to you. To me, beating Lister in hell with my frenzy mace barb is much better than spamming hammers and watching everything drop in the blink of an eye, but to each their own. whatever your choice, good luck :D

i believe a trap assasin is the ebst char to start hc.

the ranged fight in nm and hell offers a better chance to survive hardcore mode for first experiences.
u have a shadow available which works as a meatshield beside the merc.
the resi skill makes u independed concerning good gear at start.
the +3 claws are easy shopable in hell diff (probably by a friend who has a char in hell already).
at start its a bit harder because u lag the skill damage but after reaching 25+ its going a lot better.
trap-assa is easier compared to start a sorc for the first time.
trapper can mf shenk and eldritch later.
last but not least play a class that u like ;).
i hate necros and therefore dont have the 1.10 safest char on my account.

Just pick out any char you like, it wont matter much as your first 50 chars will die a shamefull death. And then some!

All the characters mentioned are good ones. I started a throw barb when I first entered HC. Pretty cheap to build (expensive if you want to run Hell alone). Throwers can hold there own in NM (lots of life); which allowed me to start MFin NM Andy and Meph for better gear. They are also pretty straight forward build. :uhhuh:

If I were starting over, I'd use a trapsin again first.
Then a skelemancer.
Then a hammerdin.

1. Cold Sorc
2. Chain Light Sorc
3. CB Zealot
4. Wind Druid
