I want to have 80 STR base so I'm able to equip my equipment. I want to have base DEX. I don't care about blocking. The whole point of a sorc is to not get hit in the first place IMO. I'll have 365 stat points remaining at level 85. So here's my questions:

Should I put them all into VIT? Should I put them into VIT until I have 1000 life with my equipment then put the rest into NRG?

For those of you who believe in having max block, pretend you have max block and somehow have 365 stat points remaining. Also pretend that somehow it's impossible to put anymore stat points into STR or DEX. What would you do in that situation?

Well, depends on what type of Sorc you are going for... but you really don't need to add anything into Energy, i keep mine at base and just use +Energy and mana charms / equipment. Hell, if you are going to stick with that strength and dex, just put everything into Vitality.

Agree with you that sorcs aren't supposed to be wandering into packs and taking hits. BUT you didn't mention what kind of sorc you're making. Meteor and blizz have a casting delay, and sometimes you'll be taking hits no matter what. I think dex and a great blocking shield are important for a sorc using these spells.

It is true that Sorcs aren't supposed to get hit, but this is Diablo 2, and the rules are different.
I think the main reason it's smart to get max blocking on a sorc is because us sorcs get screwed as far as hit points added per point in Vitality. It's a waste to dump 365 points into Vit and only get 730 (or so) points of health out of it. One good hit in hell diff will reduce those 740 hit points to zero in an instant.

BUT, since it seems like you're set on being a no block sorc, then just add it all to Vit. You really don't need eng with all the good items a sorc can wear that increases mana.

IMO if you are going to have a shield anyways, try to at least have some decent block...having 75 block is almost as good as 75%dr...

as true as sorcys are not meant to be hit, or be near monsters, dont forget that 1.1 now has alota ranged ones that CAN hurt alot...
I just made a ranged enchantress and somehow or another, she gets hit VERY often...as a result, I usually run away, which reduces her def, thus getting hit even more...since bows are 2 handed, I dont have a choice to block at all...otherwise I would definitely go the max block route...

ever walked down bloody foothills from frigid wp only to be greeted by a volley of at least 20 fire arrows? even with maxed resists, I was down to 20% life...

putting all into vit is what Im doing now but that barely hits 900 HP, which is kinda low as my pally has 1800HP base...

some people have gone the energy shield route, which requires extensive skill points allocation into TK and ES and claim that they can barely be scratched with maxed ES and TK and tonnes into energy...that Im not sure until i get to test it out...

even with max block youll still get hit occasionally. in fact i have yet to meet the char/build that will not get hit 100% of the time. i think it would be foolish to not put at least some points into dex - and if your gonna go halfway you might as well go all the way. life scs are better for life then putting all into vit.

just my opinion but you can do whatever you want.

I'm making a blizzard sorceress for meph and pindle. I don't plan on doing anything other than those two, so I will hardly ever get hit. That's why I'm thinking of sacraficing some life for mana.
