At least I've managed to get a VEX rune, so I'm now able to create HoTO. My current char is a sorceress with shield, so I want HoTO over an 1H weapon.
But I'm not sure which one I can use... and I need advise.
HoTO references are not much clear about this, but it seems that I can do it over any mace-type weapon with 4-socks... Is it true?
I mean that if I find a 4-sock mace-type weapon... I can use it to create HoTO?
Please forum experts feel free to make any suggestions. :worship:

Put it in a Flail.

Most people use them.

No. Only flail type weapons: flail-knout-scourge . Flail is the best choice because its ofcourse a caster weapon and you want the reqs to be as low as possible.

And Flail is fast - speed -10.

Is it worth using an eth flail ? I have a 5 socket eth flail.
Lower reqs, but always the risk of accidentally using it as a weapon,
and occassionally you do want to hit just to get some effect like prevent monster heal (eg hammerdin vs Dclone).

The item needs to have exactly four sockets. You cannot use a four rune runeword in a five socket item. You will not get the runeword bonuses, just the rune bonuses.

just a note: you play a sorceress and have attack on your left button instead of your main direct attack spell (glacial spike, fireball, lightning)? why?

I've always had attack as my left click on every Sorceress I've ever played. Why? Because I don't want to accidentally click-fire on a monster when hovering over their name. If I click with attack, all it does is walk me up to the monster and fail a hit. That is, if I don't catch myself before then.

that doesn't answer the "why" part. do you do it in fear of lightning enchanted monsters? because i think running into a mob because you want to id the boss and accidently click is far more dangerous.

That was the answer, there are times when I want to sliver a monster down for a certain reason *cough* merc kill *cough* extra MF *cough*. Lightning enchanted monsters would be a good reason not to have it as well, but I don't really worry about it.

if you put a missile attack on your left button, you can't run/walk.

Yes you can, as long as you don't hold shift.

Yes ! Sometimes. I normally have Fireball on left, but I also have GS and attack (hotkey 5,6,7). Why attack ? I occasionally encounter cold+fire immunes, and my attack helps out my merc. Tal set and some other stuff I have adds some damage (eg cold skiller with +3 max dam). When I put on natures peace it helps a lot with the PMH. And besides its fun bashing with an Orb when you would otherwise be idle !
Oh and I am not afraid being hurt with 1400 life (before oak), max block and resists, good defense (and +455MF).

Doh ! I was thinking of CTA. Same question though: is it worth using eth 5 socket Fliail for CTA, or eth 4 socket for HOTO. IMHO no.
