View Full Version : So, what is a blood star anyway?

I was just wondering what a blood star is made of, ie what kind of damage is it doing... massed gropups of succubi and such like can be pretty dangerous if you stand still long enough to get hit - especially the PI ones with my stupid merc who insists on poking his big stick at them even though it usually gets him killed.

Can they be resisted?

i think fire and phys, but this is just personal observation, i never really tested it either. many mobs have their listed phys damage attached to their missiles, which is why bloodstars do so much damage even if you have max elemental res and good absorbs.

I agree....getting hit by a bunch of bloostars while amped increases their damage dramatically. I once ran into a might enchanted cursed extra strong boss pack of succubi...my merc died INSTANTLY. No "oh man my merc is getting owned-run away!". Just dead. So it is most definetely a lot of physical damage

That's what I've been thinking too.

I checked darkness, but it's terribly out of date. According to them, Succubi don't even use bloodstars... :S

My Paladin has roughly 90% to all resists but usually no DR (I use gaze in 'combat configuration' but mostly I use steal skull) and can handle the non PI versions OK with the occaisional well timed quaff and life tap (thanks to Draculs Grasp)but the physical immunes just aren't worth the bother. Pecking at them with a passion ettin axe while getting hit with 30-40 bloodstars a second is a just good way to lose all your pots and your merc.

I'm pretty sure most if not all magical, ranged attackers have physical damage included with their elemental damage... as of 1.10.

Blood star damage is completely physical. You can try reviving a swarm of Hell Temptress in WSK3 and have them shoot Blood Stars at another PI Hell Temptress to confirm this.
