View Full Version : Ideal Sword PvP Barb
Hello,
I've played this game forever, and I used to own the best barb with hexs, Ao_ith, and any other perfect equipment you can think of. But after i got scammed and lost a bunch of stuff, I quit for several months. Now, I want to play again, but I'm totally lost. No more hacks, Iths, bots, etc. But what I really want to know is the equipment I need. I'm a 94 Barb on USWest, and a sword/shield barb. What is the best, or near best equipment I can get?
This is all I can say, sorry if I'm missing anytihng.

just go to ebay. even if you don't buy anything, it's a goldmine of information about hacks, dupes, and anything else non-legit. all updated too.
ps. stay there, and don't come back.
All I'm saying is that I used to have one of the best combination of items, but now, everything changed (the patch and all). I just want to know what you guys use now.

also there are buggs in this game, in 1.09 if a Eth Amrmor was socketed with a Zod rune and the rune is taken out in 1.10 it still stays indestructable.
and the Marrow walk and carrion thingy buggs
Ok, first of all, I never Ebay or buy items. If no one can give me a few tips on what I need to create a successful Sword/Shield PvP barb, then don't bother replying.

Ok then, last question.
Not one of you guys in this forum used any hacked items at all? I doubt it... And btw, I was tired of hacked characters killing me everytime in duels. I was legit for a while before I started using white rings.
PS And even when I stopped being legit, it's not like I wrote or used hacked programs, I just got some items that is already in circulation.

Since u said it was ur last question (and I sincerely hope it is) I will answer it... I have NEVER used ANY hacked items, period. When hacks ran rampant across bnet those of us who wanted to b legit created small groups to duel in. We had r F lists full of other legit ppl and made private games. This is how we avoided ppl like u, ppl who enjoy coming into games that used to b titled "legit duelz here", then using ur hexs 2 ruin everyones games. Since this was ur last question, I am very happy 2 say good bye :howdy: .
Okay, I just want to say this (this a not a question btw :flip: ),
First, you may not have touched any bugged items, but I know a lot of you guys did. And also, when I join games like "Legit Duels Only," at least one hacked character comes in. This is what frustrated me. Also, there is no point is dueling your friends over and over. It'll get boring.

Guys... I think u were a bit hard on the guy. You never gave him a chance... since 1.10 doesnt allow for most of his past exploits, he could very well be a legit player now.

U guys were evil 2 him, lol, at least he admited that he used to use hacks, ime pretty sure that there are ppl on these forums who used to have loads of hacks but wont admit it bcoz of the flaming they will get. And he was asking for info on what LEGIT items to get. He wasnt asking for the lastest hacks.

O and b4 any1 thinks I used hacks, I only ever used mh in early 1.09 and that is all. I never even accepted hacked items when I was offered them 4 free, bcoz to me they are worthless

If you read his post he says he feels , and I quote, "... but I'm totally lost. No more hacks, Iths, bots, etc.". So he realises that all his precious bugs are gone, and *then* he asks what he should use now that they dont exist. flaming is never a nice thing to do, but admitting you used hack equipment "I was legit for a while before I started using white rings.". So being legit before you use bugged stuff is an excuse for using bugged stuff? On top of that he could have easily found this info by using the oh so underrated search function and have avoided all this...
For anyone asking info, there are the STICKIES, which includes all you want to know. the WW-guide says exactly what Fallen says, and hals conc guide is one the best guides ever. You really don't need to make new threads about the "best stuff" or anything...

my answer was the best actually. if you go to ebay, you can clearly see what's in demand. i always go there to see what's the latest hacks. people even sell the latest hack programs as well. regarding legit stuff, you can buy whole accounts of legit items with the chars pre-built or clean. and the junk doesn't get any bids, so you can see what's good by how many people are bidding on it.
imho, using hacks is a character flaw that doesn't go away. it's like having an addiction. once you start, you can't stop. i've been playing since @1994 online (1984 on my home comp) with text-only muds, and it's always the same. the people who abuse bugs keep abusing them. the pk'ers first and foremost because they want to keep pk'ing.
some people are just curious. the difference is the addicts possess them, the curious just take a look.
for me, i've never used a hack. perhaps some of my sojs and most likely my 1 jah were dupes, but they never disappeared. i kept them for over 3 years until they expired, unspent and unsocketted.
maybe i'm lucky. i've been able to find/make 'godly' items (heh see my "313 pd sc?" thread in the stats forum :)) so i've never been tempted. i've also never done pvp.

Has anyone tried Death Cleaver with Eth, instead of BotD?
botd is clearly alot better then death cleaver
both in damage, leech, and the 30 stats, as well as indestructible, allowing for etheral weaps. there simply isnt any weapon that can compete(except if ur lucky to find an etheral rare zerker axe with self repair/leech/450% ed max dam per lvl/ar per lvl or something) but big gl. as for the enigma, this is for the normal tweaker barb, if u wanna bvb there are other options. usually:
Eth BotD berserker axe
jewelers xxx of the whale/titan sock with 4 x ed/str jewels
or a Stone runeword/etheral steel carapace armor for the defense they add
Arreats face sock ed/str
Stormshield sock ed/str
2 x angelic halos
angelic wings
Goreriders
Verdungos Hearty Cord
Either Draculs grasp or Steelrend(i havent tested both, only draculs, the open wounds is nice, as well as leech/str, but steelrend have more damage, chrushing blow and alot more defense)
2 x echoing weaps on switch
same x/xx/x fine of vita scs
and annihilius small charm
keep a demon limb in stash to use enchant for the added attack rating(havent been lucky enough to find a good samaritan who would give one for free :s)
basically aim for 4.5k ww dam at least, around 6k life, 18k+ attack rating, around 16-25k defense(depending on armor) and good % critical strike/open wounds.

The only better mod in Botd is 30 to all attributes. Hence you will get more life with a Botd. However the 64k question here is.. does the 66% deadly strike cancel out that advantage and even exceed it?
Personally, I use a 278ed eth death cleaver. Seems that on occasion, when deadly strike rolls, I win the botd barbs. When don't, I lose. Havent done enough BvB to get a confirmation yet....
I say that it does. You can totally alter your equipment , because you don't need to wear that same old gore's + highlord's to get at least some deadly strike. You actually get more %deadly strike with just cleaver then the other combo.
Together with a 22% critical strike from your mastery you have a 73% chance to get double dmg with death cleaver. With gore's + highlord's (just lets say 35%) you have 60% chance of doing double dmg. The big difference is that with cleaver you're not limited in using Hlord's + gore's.
Death Cleaver + Gore Rider's + slvl 20 Weapon Mastery = 85% chance of doing double damage on striking.
Chance (%) = CS + (DS/100)*(100-CS)
CS = Critical Strike
DS = Deadly Strike

cuz if ur using verdungo/gores, 2 x angelic rings+ammy or 1 x angelic ring/ammy and raven, where will ya get ml? :s
i know u could use mana leech gloves, but u lose good % ed or open wounds from draculs/steelrends, and if u use gaze, u lose attack rating, 40 stats, a bit of defense, resists, damage overall.

If you are playing pvm, I just switch one of my rings for dual leach
indeed thats easy yes, but for pvp it wont cut it, specially not vs barbs/exile palas -.-
dmg goes to mana isnt enough imo:D
ive duelled alot and always find myself in mana probs, until i hit,
but u shouldnt and wont get hit alot cuz of ur defense :D

raider (dunno how to spell his name) propsed a 4eth shield on the switch, which isn't a bad idea (in the stash, after pre-buffing bo with echoing weps, i would think.)
so ur gonna run away to regenerate mana?
what about the guy ur dueling jus puts up a 4 dol shield then? :P

first off you guys were very hard on that guy. i used 1 hacked char for rushing my legit people (i was in a dueling club where all that crap was banned and stuff) and i have been playing d2 a LONG time. no i never bought. but really. :rant:

i've been playing for 3 years (4 counting diablo 1) and never used hacks. i rush myself through items. in .09, i had 2 sets of self-rush eq, melee barb, throwing barb. in .10, i have 2 sets: sorc and barb. takes me 8 hours from creation to hell hellforge. no, not as good a 30 minute rush, but good enough to keep me away from temptation.
