hello,

well i'm making a ww polearm barb and i dont want to invest too much in str so that i can put more into vit since i wont have a shield.

i was thinking of going ebotd great poleaxe.. and i heard i could rely on my other gear to reach the 153 str i need to use it... do i not risk getting my body popped this way?

thx

im not completly sure how the whole body pop thing works, but i was under the impresion that it only pops if you die, then just say you equip some gloves before getting your body, then.. if you needed the gloves you had on before to equip something it can't get equiped so it would go to your inventory, but when you're inventory is ful then it drops! thats what i thought! so as long as you dont eqip something before getting your body, you should be right!

hmmm... i knew about that too.. the only problem is.. ive seen my hybridzon pop AS i died. she had to wear titans to use ss... could this be why? and would there be no problem if i was using a 2 hander?

hmmm, like i said, im not sure how body pops occur in the first place!
i too was scared at one stage with a barb of mine, cause he was very item depended with stregth and by removing even 1 piece of eqipmnt, he couldn't use any of the reat, but i tested it in a private game by dieing a few times, and it never happend to me...... not sure what else i can tell you...

do a pop test!

get some1 u trust to pk you on normal, then pick up your body and see what happens - if it all goes to plan and everything returns to where it should, i'd say you were safe.

- Unless ofc you play HC - but then popping would be the least of your worries.

Your body doesn't reallly pop anymore, as the code structure now supports multiple corpus, so each time you die, you leave a body behind (up to 14, I believe). The only danger is that if you leave the game/lose connection, when you rejoin, only the body with the highest shop-gold value will remain.

So yeah...don't lose connection.

well, for most people, playing HC really solves the problem with popping. but if ur wondering how u pop, its quite simple. When u die, on sc, your body has all of its gear removed but not your characters inventory. if u go to pick up your body and dont have enough str to re-equip and item(say a Stormshield)
the item cant be equiped so it tries to store itself into your characters inventory. when that fails most likely because you dont have enough space for the one or more items, it decides to stay on the body. so now u have half your gear on you, and u still have a body on the ground. if u die when this happens, your gear has nowhere else to go because u dont have your body yet, so i falls on the ground. the patch though has somewhat fixed this although in some wierd cases u can still pop.

hmmm ok so lets say i put my base str at 103(archonplate)

i would get around+ 60-70str at high lvl from enigma
t gods +20 str
arreats +20str
ebotd Great poleaxe(req 153 with hel rune) +30str
steel rends

i would be pretty safe?

Still confuses me, as surely your first corpse will have everything, and your subsequent corpses will be empty, and should you manage to retrieve your body, only to die yet again, then that body will still have all the gold value, whilst the others are "worthless".

So pop testing, to make sure it all leaves the ground when u retrive is still viable (pop test with Inventory totally full - fill up the gaps with potions/scrolls etc - so if it would fail "for real" it will remain on the floor, as opposed to ending up in your inv).

If when u test, something that should be worn ends up in your inventory then u run the risk of leaving it on the corpse when u retrive, so Hal's point about gold value comes into play should u leave the game.

[had a BAAAAAD pop and lost 2 WF's - have died many times since but haven't popped since i started testing first]

The way it's supposed to work now is say you are running to your corpse and pick up a pair of gloves and an axe by accident on the way. When you click your corpse, it should rearm as much of your gear as it can, but leave the corpse since you didn't get all your items. Then you die again, and so now you have two bodies; one with the gear left over from your first death, and one with the gear from your second death.

But yes, testing just to be absolutely positive would be nice. Try single player, here's a character file with a lot of gear to test with:

halciet: I remembered that screenshot you posted of your barb using a great poleaxe.. it seems you were relying on your other gear to equip those steel rends for example since your total was just a bit over 200 with enigma, arreats, steelrends and botd...

did he ever pop?

Nope. Of course, he never died, either.
