cana anyone give me a really good WW barb guide..cause i cant find any. I also have the IK set.

ok, ill tell you my build! you tell me if you like it afterwords ok!! im thinking of writing up a guide! (for those ppl that need one =)

i call it the "Concentrated Whirler".

20 :Mastery of choice
20 :Battle Orders
20 :Shout
20 : Whirl Wind

1 point wonders:
- iron skin
- natural resists
- increase stamina
- increase speed
- Taunt
- Battle cry
- War cry
- Battle Command
- Berserk

All this will take 95 skill points, so it is possible at lvl 83.

i normally like lvling my chars to lvl90, so in this build, i start putting all available points into Concentrate! (ie Concentrated Whirler)
so at clvl90, my concentrate has a base slvl of 8, and around almost double that after + skills! this is awsome for boss killing when you can't leech! (mephisto), i chose to start pumping up Concentrate because of Hals guide!
its a tight build he made but it doesn't kill at fast as a WW barb!
so i combined the 2.

Equipment:
the most IMPORTANT thing for a WW barb is his Weapon! It must reach the break point or he'll suck!

weapon: recomended: BotD CB or Zerker, (CB more versitile, but zerker is faster with better one-hand damage) i chose the CB cause i LOVE the look of a big see-through blade poking out of my barb!! :yep:
other cheaper alternatives = Crecent moon Legend sword! and others!

Armor: now everyone has different opinions about armors, but i'll tell you what i use! Duress: cheap, good defence, 15% CB and high chance of OW, with 40% FHR. but if you can afford an Enigme or CoH, by all means use them, cuse they rock! i chose duress for the crushing blow which helps ALOT !
other cheaper alternatives = UP'd Shaft, Smoke, Stone, there are many!

Shield: Stormshield, enough said! (cheap too.. PUL, woot!)

Helm: the almighty Arreats Face, enough said (by fair the best barb helm!)

Gloves:Steelrends casue of the CB, but thur are other decent gloves too if you dont have a pair of these!

Belt: many alternatives here, Thundergods = str/vit boost + lightning absorb, Strings, arachnids, i personally use:Verdungo's Hearty Cord, for the DR and vit boost!

Boots: Gore riders all the way!

Ammy/rings: i personally use, Angelic ammy/ring + ravenfrost! (IMO, AR is CRUCIAL to a WW barb, and right now i have a 87% chacne to hit the last of baals minions wich is decent! aim for around 10 000 + AR without any buffs or War crys! this will go up considerably after buffs!

alternatives include: highlords, cats eye, ravens, bk rings, duel leech rares!
IMO if you have a BotD, its all the leech your need, arreats adds to leech too!

================================================== ======
the Low Down:

if all these items are obtained then you should have a pretty nice WW barb!
- high AR
- high Defence
- high Damage
- high life
- 50% DR (SS + Verdungo's: 35% + 15%)
- 40% crushing blow
- 33% Chance of Open Wounds
- good Resists
- and FAST ATTACK SPEED !!!! (SOO important for a WW barb)

================================================== =======

there are many alternatives with gear and skill points alike!
you could always use different gear to suite you and your bugdet
and you could always not pump concentrate and try something else!

i good alternative to pumpin concentrate would be to put points on:
- iron skin, to have more defence!
- berserk ????
- perhaps a warcry like battle cry, or war cry ?

================================================== =======

Gameplay is EZ as pie!
simply WW anything that moves!! DUH (with exeption to oblivian nights or phys immunes!!)

when you come accross an oblivian knight, berserk the mofo till he drops! if the others are making it hard for you, lead them away alittle (maybe use taunt) and then warcry them and go kill there boss! (oblivian knight!)
other then that, you're all ready to go and kick some ***!

LAST note: merc choices are strictly up to you! but IMO, a might Merc will serve you best, casue of your warcry's, your merc will have high life/defence!
so a little more damage is awsome!!
make sure he has:
- Damage reduction
- LIFE leech
- and good damage!

my merc uses: up'd shaft with UM, Gaze with UM, and a Reapers Toll with an AMN in it!! he kicks serious monster BUTT !!!!!

================================================== ========

Tell me what you think guys!!! did i miss anything????? am i wrong with anything???
i wrote this in 10 minutes just now, so it is VERY likely the spelling is bad and i missed things out!!

HAL: give me some input! what should i change? should i bother making it a guide for all the people that keep asking how to make a WW barb????

Not bad, though you'd need to flesh it out a bit more. Also, I wouldn't suggest putting those leftovers into conc, since it's pointless to have combat skills when you really only use one. If you put the points into ironskin instead, you'd get the bonus of Concentrate perpetually, even when whirling. Plus, with max BO, you're 1 point of conc will STILL do more damage than your 20 whirl.

Need to discuss stat points as well.

granted you have a point about conc! but im sort of thinking of actual game play when writing,
explaination: conc is an awsome attack and yes, 1 point on it is very decent! but i chose to pump it more because of the high defence/damage it does with littel mana cost! and therefore i found it more useful when:

a) boss killing unleachables!
b) Most important: going up against high defence monsters with Mana burn. i found for these type of monsters, you'll probably get 1 WW through until you run out of mana! (some monsters ignore your defence!) and therefore i wanted a strong conc in order to deal the mose damage i can/lease mana req, and have super defence!

because when im playing, my defence is good enough against ANY monster that doesn't ignore defence, just with my maxed Shout! and therefore i wanted a strong skill to deal with those pesty monsters!!

anyways!

HAL: should i write up this Build??? (perfect it) ?? after reading your reply i would definatly list some alternatives to pumping con and go alittle more in depth!!

what do you think Hal?

I'm a little set in my ways about whirlwind's fifth pump. After months of study and work, we've found overall that the ironskin is the better investment, since, as I mentioned, 1 in conc with 20 bo does more damage than whirl already, which should be plenty enough. Better to pump something that perpetually useful than to pour points into something you'll only be using on special occasions. Makes for a more balanced build.

That's the only thing that makes me a bit iffy about you writing up a guide about it; otherwise I have no doubts. You just need to realize that if the guide becomes popular, tons of people will be using it to design your characters, so you need to think of what will be more useful to the players in the long run.

Example: in early versions of the conc guide (and even the damn strategy compendium version, which they refuse to update for me) i pushed Grim Ward, since I used it on occasion and had fun with it. Later, after complaints and investigation, I realized that it was more of my preference, instead of what was for the good of the player. The same goes for the leftover points - in the beginning, I suggested pumping Bash, but later realized that not everyone will have perfect equipment that would benefit from Bash, so I edited to leave it open ended and provided choices, without stressing one over the other.

You can give a write-up a shot, if you like. I wrote mine because of pressure from forumites, which turned out great. You can always script one up and plop it down for review, or send it along to me via email or pm for proofreading (since I'm an IT/English double major, I do it all the time).

last question Hal.. how should i write it up? html? just plop it in a forum thread? if i do make a html document, how will it be posted/sticky'd ? =)

it shouldn't take me long....

btw: im also doin IT, last year of Uni in a Comp Science degree! hehe =)

also, here's my email! drop me align so i can get your email address to send you the file! this way you dont have to list it here on the forum!

Hah, yeah, I'm moving into my senior year at my university, though I'll be spending the fall semester at the Royal School of Information Science in Denmark. Looks like you'll get finished before me, heh heh. Noticed you're aussie as well; one of my friends in the department was a transfer student from your country; small world.

As for the format, heed this advice, cause God knows I wish I'd done it to start with:

Post the guide on your own personal page in html format, and then just put a link in your post here. In doing this you can constantly update and revise your guide; if you post it all in the forum, you can only work on it for an hour, then you have to hassle mods to fix it, which is a pain in the *** for both you and them.

As for getting a sticky, I dunno what to tell you on that. I wrote mine because there was a general need for it and urging by the board members; spent a few weeks writing and revising it, then tossed it up and then I went to bed. When I woke up, it was stickied. If people like it and it's well written, it'll get stickied pretty fast, though you can always page a mod to ask. They're busy guys, so they may or may not respond. Be polite though, and don't really tell/ask them to sticky it, but rather ask them to take a look at it and see if it's worth being stickied. Humility will get you far in life, hah hah!
