View Full Version : Dwarf Star
I recently found dwarf star unique ring.
3 questions:
1) How good is it?
2) what class/build would benifit the most from it
3) how does the magic damge reduction work with timed spells (firewall etc) Say i have 12 MDR. does that reduce damage by 12 a second, a certain number of frames,...?

I can't answer the second two questions as well as everyone else will be able to (though my Zealot likes his Dwarf Star), but to question 1:
I really like it because of its Fire Absorb and +life. I don't think the Magic Damage Reduction is too much to write home about. i believe it just reduces actual "magic" damage, i.e. Bone Spirits from OKs. <---Don't quote me on that though!

For the first question, the fire absorb is nice. if your wondering how much it's worth, i don't think many people will be rushing out to trade for one.
I'm not sure about the second question.
For the third question, i think the magic damage reduced is per frame. if it was per second, that would be virtually useless after act one normal. i'm not sure about this.
edit: i believe droopingcactus is right about the "magic" damage thing. it doesn't apply to elemental damage, just stuff like a barbarians berserk.
It USED to be per frame, but that was found to be too powerful, so it is total.
If a monster's firewall did 1000 damage per second, that's 40 damage per frame. If you had a Dwarf Star and a Vipermagi on, that would reduce the damage to about 10 damage per frame, or 250 damage, then your resists would knock that down even further.
Magic Damage reduction applies to all elemental damage and magic damage. It was termed "magic" so that it wouldn't be confused with physical damage.
