Hi, everybody.

I got really freaking lucky today and got the Oculus from Pindleskin in NM (no, Im not kidding), anyway, what is a common thing that people socket the Oculus with?

I can't believe I actually found somthing useful, I wasn't even doing pindleruns or MFing, it was just dumb luck I guess.

resist jewel or ist is the most common I think

Most people socket ist, but I think that's so cliche. I ended up socketing mine with a cold facet.

Congrats, though. Good find.

Facet would probably be best.

Ist only gives you 30mf, and if you have access to it, you also have access to mf equipment to wear. If your sorc already has 400%mf, the extra 30 will mean little. That's the reason I didn't Ist mine.

Resistance jewel - you should have enough reistances from other sources. If nothing else, charms work very well. And you can't get +dmg using charms (well, skillers, but less effective).

Socketing with whatever facet helps your attack is nice.

i've socketed mine with a -5/+4 light facet, and I'm very happy about it !)

Or just a IO rune if you can't afford any of that. You can always unsocket later.

No one on this post gave bad advice. I thought it was excellent! Now if I could only find that facet tree and pick me a few of them, lol

Any kind of unique facet.

As Soep said you can always unsocket later if you find any of those unique facets.

How do you unsocket an item? Do you get the item you socketed in it back?

Also, I've read various places about "upgrading" an item. Is this just referring to socketing?

To unsocket an item, put it, a hel rune, and a town portal spell in your cube.

Upgrading takes armor or a weapon and upgrades it to the next higher quality (normal -> exceptional -> elite). There are 4 recipes, and they are ladder only. Check out :
