Quick Blocking Question

I apologize in advance, topics similar to this have been posted.

I am creating a Meteorb Sorceress with the shield runeword 'Sanctuary' on a Troll Nest. The bast blocking for this shield on a Sorceress is 40%, with and additional 20% from the runeword.

So, with 60% blocking percentage on the shield, what level of dexterity would I need to achieve 60% blocking? 65%? 70%? 75%?

If it is not too much to ask, may I request a reply in numbers, not an equation?

Giving your character level and whether you receive any +% chance to block bonuses from other gear would help.

the chance to block for any character relies on your characters level, so its hard to give you a one dexterity equals all type answer with out using the formula which is;


Required Blocking % = (dexterity - 15) shield block.
-----------------------------------------------------
level x 2.

an example is a level 80 soser with your sanctuary trolls nest would look like;


75 % = (dexterity - 15) 60.
-----------------------------------------------------
80 x 2.

to work the formula out, 80 times 2 equals 160. multiply this by the percentage chance to block you want, in this case, 75. this equals 12,000. then, devide this with the shields blocking chance. 12,000 divided by 60 is 200. the final part of the equation is the dex - 15 part. for this, you simply add 15 to your total, so 200 + 15 equals 215 dexterity in total needed for a level 80 soser.

keep in mind that the 20 dexterity from the shield (and other items) will work towards this figure.

Apologies, I am calculating for a level 99 sorc, with a total of +40 dex from her gear.

I applied the equation that was given and got a required 236 dexterity for 75% blocking at level 99. Is this correct?

I wouldn't invest that much dexterity until you're at that level. Invest it as you go. I think a lot of these "how much dex for my character" are redundant ... expect to spend ~200 for a high level character, and just watch the "defense" box to see what you actual percent is, invest dex as you level to keep it at 75%.
