Okie, well I'm of the bow-enchantress camp, but here's my build.
Skills:
20 Warmth
20 Enchant
20 Fire Mastery (these three are ALWAYS needed)
1 Static
1 TK (prereq)
1 Teleport
1 Chilling Armor or 20 Frozen Armor
1 Firebolt (prereq)
1 Fireball (prereq)
Secondary skills to taste. I'm currently looking at Frozen Orb or Chain Lightning as backup damage, because I'm in the 1 Chilling Armor camp. I'm also in the Vitality camp - no max TK because no Energy Shield!
Gear:
Weapon: Demon Machine or Kuko. I like the Demon Machine much, much better. As for a rune, you really have 2 choices - Shael it or Nef it. I would vote for the Nef - knockback will keep you alive, Shael can be made up in IAS gear elsewhere.
Weapon Switch: Memory with +3 Enchant if you're rich, Leaf with the same if you're not.
Armor: Hmm...many, many options here. I'm not going to suggest any specific one, but the biggest thing to look for here is RESISTS. You're going to have a hard time getting them on this build, just like any bow-user. Resists resists resists. COH might be good if you're really really loaded. I'm using a 28 Viper. You also want skills - hence Viper. Look for MF if you're planning to MF, obviously. Oh, and socket an IAS jewel.
Helm: Again, you're looking for resists and skills. Lots and lots of ones available. One I might suggest for fun's sake, ESPECIALLY with a melee Enchantress (they're amazing for these) is Delirium runeword. I love confusion. Again, socket IAS.
Belt: Razortail, you have little other choice. The Pierce is just incredible when you're slinging that many explosive bolts.
Gloves: I dunno on this one. You're looking for fire damage and IAS here, maybe a Crafted pair for the IAS?
Boots: Not sure here either. FRW is great for your build, I suggest you go that route, but there are a lot of great boots for this build. Marrowwalks might actually be good - yes, you'd be USING those Bone Prison charges, so only do this if you've got a LOT of Orts sitting around.
Rings: Get a Ravenfrost and another good ring. SOJ is good, so are some of the new Ladder ones, also look for Rare and Crafted rings with resists.
Amulet: Skills and Resists, the two mods everyone wants on a rare/crafted ammy. Go that route for sure.
Any argument? I'm still relatively new.

Cool man thanks alot. This is my first enchantress heheh. So thanks... I'm relatively poor but I might have enough gear to get me through... thanks again!
a demon machine needs very little ias to reach max attack spd tho, other than that looks like a bunch of solid advice

I thought a sorc with DM needed 65 for max? I may be wrong though.
sorceress with cho ko nu needs 8 ias to reach 11fpa, the max attack possible

(sorc -> crossbow -> -60)

Wow. That's fast. I guess you won't need to Shael the Demon Machine, which is good - a Nef rune will benefit you a LOT more.
The only time a kuko might be better than a demon machine is if you are partied with a fanatacism using paladin and can get to 9 frames. Still, I think the ease of hitting the last breakpoint and the extra pierce make the demon machine a much better choice.
A note on energy shield, if you decide to go that route, you can decide to skip on the resists - see the archived guides for an excellent explanation of energy shield.
BTW I was thinking of writing a detailed guide for a ranged enchantress - would people be interested?

I'd be interested, and since I'm working on one atm, I'd be glad to kick in a bit and help! Though like I said, I'm going with Vitality vs. Energy Shield, so I'm going to need resists a lot more than the next guy.
