I received an Atari 2600 for home gaming when I was 5 years old in 1980, I got my first computer, an Atari 800XL in 1982. It had 64 Kilobytes of RAM and a 5.25" Floppy drive so that I could copy games from my neighbor and play.

My favorite game I ever bought for the Atari 800 was Ultima 3. Though it was later thrown away by my parents since they thought I'd be worshipping the devil... mom's sister-in-law tried to convince her than an Ankh (hebrew and egyptian symbol) was the sign of the devil... and there was an ankh on one of the manuals.

Gamer since the 70's. Hand-held football and baseball games that consisted of moving dots and dashes :)

I remember those! :) My neighbor's dad ran 2 arcades, and always had games in his garage, so I never really invested in the hand-helds :)

"Something".

Don't know what you mean by "gamer", but I used computers to play games since 82 or 83 (I know the first game we wrote, but don't know the exact year).

There was no big gaming industry yet, and no "professional gamers" either.

...Where you had your notebook paper listing the counter stops for each program on the cassette. I was there before my mom bought me my floppy drive (for $300 at that time).

hehe...I forgot about the counter thing!

Yeah we upgraded to the 5 inch floppy also. Pricey like U said, and a seperate component. The mass of plugs and wires was outrageous

At a friend of my parents, I remember playing Pong.

Trash 80? Anyone remember the cartridge game Dungeons of Daggorath?

Btw, does D&D count? I think it should, as the first mental videogame. If not for D&D, I probably wouldn't like fantasy as much as I do.

basic (caves of chaos anyone?) advanced (b4 it was called 1st edition) and gave up with 2nd edition. By then, Final Fantasy had come out on Nintendo and I was hooked. Still have it too...

Cool, now I'll sound less geeky next time I say I've been a gamer for 8 years now :D (I think it was the first 368. Not 100% sure, I hardly remember anything ^.^)

Playing since the mid 70's. Started on a pong like game machine to which you could connect a gun and shoot squares. After that the Atari 2600: breaking the joysticks when playing Decathlon. The great Commdore 64 followed, will never forget Elite, Wizardball and the Summer/Winter game series. (good news, shortly a console with old c64 games will come out). And offcourse the great classic Arcade games like Galaga, Ms. pacman, 1942, Ghost 'n Goblins, Bubble Bobble etc etc etc.

Lets see....the very first game i played was Mario or pac man, that was like, when i was 10.Then came roadrash racer,aoe,caeser.........long list.Been playing for 9yrs now,i am 19.I still have my original system, gathering dust in da attic somewhere...........gotta play pacman again, fond memories........wow,its bin a while!!!Me and my friends used to save up allowance and then blow it all on the arcade games, but then when my parents found out how much i was into it,it got banned because i was supposed to be "studying at a friends place" and not be at the arcade........ its like that song of Bryan Addams"those were the best days of my life",hehe.
