Naked?

Ok I'm sorry if this is pointless spam, but hey, maybe its not.

Why would you play a "naked" character? Why would you go without equipment, etc? Just wondering.

I have not, but seeing as how I am building for pvp, I was just wondering what the advantage is.

It's a display bug.

Basically, if someone doesn't have enough str to equip a certain item, but they equip a charm which adds enough str so that they can equip that item (i.e. anni), then that item will not show up on other people's screens, but it will show up on the wearer's screen.

That's why you see naked characters sometimes. Or more often you'll see characters that appear to just be missing a weapon or a shield or something. But in reality, that/those items are still equipped. You just can't see them.

I've seen it before and experienced it, I have an LLDer who looks like he's wearing only a shield, I didn't plan on it though, I built the character in .09 and when 1.1 came around I started dueling and people were asking "wtf, how'd you kill me naked?" and "where do you get your hacks?".

so hows it work?
i've just started a new char and want to equip sigons for early game.
so i gather up some gcs and try it with some hard leather armour or something.
it fits fine with the gcs, then when removed the armour goes red and is unequipt. please explain how to do it...

I think its when you are using charms to get high enough strength or whatever from charms to use some of your gear. So you would have to keep the charms in your inventory for it to work.

BTW, it looks like you're wearing armor on your screen, just not on other people's.

well Kid uuB, the bug works this way:

You build a character.. it does have enough strength to equip a certain item (or perhaps all of its items if you want to really freak people out) so you throw on a few charms (and you keep them on) so your character can use the items. This is the part im not sure about, perhaps you need to be missing a certain amount of strength.. my zon is missing a few str. for ss, but i don't hear people complaning about it.

I've also noticed that if you're missing dex for throwing weapons and you throw (or even swing with them, ww doesn't work for this though), your character becomes completely invisible! name tag and all! the effect stops when your character finishes its attack.

None of the effects can be seen on your screen so don't think it didn't work just because you still see your character's items.

I've seen all of the things i mentioned happen before, i know how the bug works because my friends tell me what happens with my character...

If u used charms to meet the requirements on a set piece, like trang or tal or something, and that set piece gives u complete set, then do others see the transformation to a vamp or the aura?

Yea that would see the transformation into a vampire,but for tals I've seen sorcs running around with the aura but it looked like they had no body armor,so yea. :uhhuh:

I wish it were possible to get the Tal's aura with the armor showing, but without that UGLY helm.

You'd have to socket the armor with a -15% requirements jewel...

Not worth it.
