It's interesting to compare sorc shields now that we know about Splendor.

Lidless gives 1 skills and 20 cast rate, plus minor things (maybe for some builds, 10% extra mana isn't that minor, but for no-energy frozen/fb/meteor it is). What's bad is that it doesn't work with blocking build at all, at 40% blocking.

Visc gives 1 skills at 60% blocking, 72% after upgrading.

Splendor gives 1 skills at whatever block rate you have for the shield. The most blocking you can get is 44%, but even that will cost either a lot of str or -10 r/w. It also has 10cast rate, 20 mf, and other minor things.

Rhyme doesn't have skills, although CBF is nice. But Raven Frost gives you that too.

Finally Stormshield doesn't give skills, but 35% physical resistance along with 72% blocking and two resists speak for themselves.

I don't see Milabrega as an option, since it misses skills.

BUT: all except Splendor can be socketed, while it cannot. So even though it offers a nice combo of cast rate and mf, I don't see it as viable option. If you don't care about blocking, then Lidless with Ist will offer 10 more cast rate, though at a higher price. If you do want blocking, 44% won't satisfy you.

I guess if your build doesn't need that extra 10% cast rate, doesn't care about extra 10% mana, and you don't want blocking, then Splendor is a cheaper alternative of Isted Lidless.

rhyme has the best % mf (25) but as 5% difference is pretty minor it doesnt make a big difference in that area, but would make a fine replacement for splendor
other than that, id say it depends on where u mf
if u moat meph, rhyme is fine
if u pit run though, where u would NEED block, id go with screwing mf on the shield and usin ss and makin up for it with other gear. ex-gheeds-more than makes up for any shield but isted monarch
but if ur gonna use a shield with mf, i'd just stick with the splendor for the +skills, fcr, and mf...and i like the name :yep:

Yes, you are! Splendor is a new runeword that has been activated/discovered in the past few days, along with two new armors. I don't know the runes off the top of my head, but they're on the front page of diabloii.net, can't miss it.
