1. Outside of your weapon, I believe so yes.

I believe that ed not on weapon now takes a 1/3 penalty
I tested with a zakarum shield doing 23-24 damage, with 148% ed it did 36 consistently

how about +max dmg from jewel outside weapon?

No, +max damage does not add to Smite, no matter where it's coming from, ie. out of weapon.

Are you sure about the max damage jewels? I thought the explanation I read was that The Redeemer's max damage added to smite damage, while something like war travellers didnt because they had a range of 15-25 max damage. If one was to add a + max damage jewel into redeemer that would add pur + max damage, and so should add to smite? Also do + max damage charms add to smite?

ThanksThe mod added by The Redeemer is not + max damage, but rather "+ damage". Now, how the exact mechanics of this mod work, I'am not entirely sure, however, yes that will add to your total damage done if you're using Smite.

No, + max charms do not add to Smite damage.
