Just search around the forum, using the term "whirlwind" and such, or just browse a few pages. We don't have a guide, per se, but we have written out the build repeatedly, along with the generic stat distro rules. "whirlwind" or "whirl" as search terms, with "build," should work, as I myself try to make sure I use the full word in every thread on the topic I've responded to, just so people can hit it up with search.

IIRC some one has expressed interest in doing [a long] one...though I can't remember who :o

i have a little time, so i guess i shall post a few Whirlwind Builds. One is Pure Melee Duels, the others are well, i guess more well rounded for PvM. (These are my builds, don't think you have to follow it to the letter, be creative!)

#1 The Duelist.

Stats:
Base Strength
Dex: Enough for a 75% block (just adjust accordingly)
Vit: Rest
Eng: none

Skills:

20 Whirlwind
20 Axe Mastery(Change to whatever weapon you use)
20 Battle Orders
20 Shout
Rest in Iron Skin
1 Battle Command
1 Nat Resis
1 Bash
1 concentrate
1 Stun
1 Leap
1 Leap attack
As you can see, this is pure BvB/melee duels, which is why i have not added ANY points into increased Stamina, and increased speed. I added one to nat resis because i need a little bit against poisoners/elemental pallys, etc

Equipment:
Helm: Arreats face
Armor: Enigma
Rings and ammy: Angelic ammulet and 2x angelic rings for AR boost
Belt: Verdungos Mithril Coil
Boots: Goreriders
Gloves: Steelrends
Shield: Stormshield
charms:
20 life scs, +3 max dmg+ 15-20 AR scs, some 3/20/20(eek) and of course a unique small charm.

this is a pure dueler, which took almost everythign i have. Also he is strength bugged, meaning others can not see his gear, and it requires careful planning and the correct order to put on equipment. This build is only for those who are really interested in BvB.

#2 The Swiss Army Knife (With a Shield)

This barb can do almost anything in PvM, and can hold his own in duels, just not as well as the previous build.

Stats:
Str: enough to use your items, 50-81 is nice, if you have a unique small charm. If you don't have one, you made need more, 90+
dex:Enough for blocking
Vit: Rest
Eng: none

Skills:
20 WW
20 Weapon mastery
20 Shout
20 BO
here is the difference between the two. The first build poured into Iron Skin all remaining points. This barb has a wider range of skills. So instead of pouring all remaining points, consdier these skills:

Grim Ward (Great for creating safe points near Tps.
Find item-Excellent Mfing tool
taunt-good for bringing long range monsters in close, and attracting attention away from physically weaker party members
battle cry-Good for lowering defense making it easier to hit
Warcry- hmm i debate with people about the use of this skill outside of frenziers, but if you are pure PvM, one point will not hurt you. It can stun, even for a brief moment allows you to escape or compose yourself.

one point in some of those can really help in big 8 player games.

charms:

i would say life charms, max dmg/ar, and a little poison are a good mix. Put in resis charms if you need.

equipemtn choices:

HELMS

Arreats face(one of, if not the best barbarian helm)
Vampire Gaze(Dual leech, DR, good for PvM)
Shako(+2 skills, a little DR, +life/mana, not bad at all, but not really a combat barbs helm)
Immortal King's set Avenger Guard(not too bad, has 2 open sockets, a little MF, +warcries)
Lore(+1 skills, some light resis, not bad and east to make "Sol+eth"
Rockstopper( Damage Reduce, +resis, good if you can't find anything else)
there are some decent barb circlets you can get, with +2 skills, leech, etc but i would just say shoot for arreats.

ARMOR

Chains of honor( Dol Um Ber Ist, if its possible this is a GREAT PvM armor. +65 resis, +2 skills, dmg to demons and undead, life leech, shazam! haha
Enigma( Jah Ith Ber, more of a PvP armor, but still nice against monsters, although its highly overrated)
Arkaines valor( Fairly high defense, +2 skills hopefully, little vit boost, try and get an eth one for huge defensive bonuses)
shaftstop( The 1,09 favorite, still good if you are a 2 handed weapon wielder)
Glad Bane(people almost give them away)
Lionheart( another 1.09 favorite, check out the mods their quite good)
plenty of lower level/lower price range options, stealth, the new runeword armors are fairly easy to make, check the diabloii main page for the new runewords.

PERSONAL PREFERENCE- Chains of Honor

RINGS AND AMMY
amulets such as crescent moon, eye of etlich, cats eye, highlords, are quite good unique amulets. and none of those are particularly hard to get.
+2 barb skills ammys, blood ammys, can spawn decent mods.

Rings: a leech ring (rares spawn quite good mods now, dual leech is possible)
Ravenfrost(Cannot Be Frozen, + dex, +AR, very good)

many mroe options, just make sure you have some leech in the mix, along with a ravenfrost and you're good to go

PERSONAL PREFERENCE- +2 rare barb amulet ravenfrost, and a dual leech ring

GLOVES:
Steelrends (good dmg, best Whirlwind gloves in my opinion, but rare)
Draculs( The open wounds can help, and if you need massive leech in a pinch, just start using concentrate on the monsters and activate the lifetap, then Whirl through them for a massive HP recovery)
Soul drainers( dual leech, minus monster def per hit, pretty good)
IK Gloves (dual stat, another 1.09 staple item good and VERY easy to get)
Laying of Hands( Massive dmg to demons, fire resis, easy to get)
crafted blood gloves ( many good mods, crushing blow, + stat, dual leech)

PERSONAL PREFERENCE- Steelrends
BELTS

Verdungos: +Vit, Damage Reduce %, pretty good defense, good all around belt
String of Ears an 1.09 favorite, still works in PvM because leech matters, and so does DR%
T-Gods- The best defense against Black souls, it has Lite absorb, +20 vit/str, not bad at all.
Whilhelms Pride( dual leeech belt, good alternative)
Ik Belt( good str boost, + resis and AR bost if added with other parts

PERSONAL PREFERENCE Verdungos

BOOTS
Gore riders ( Deadly strike, crushing blow, open wounds, gogo goreriders, very good mods for a Whirl Barb)
War Travs (+str + vit, + added damage, and MF good boots, there is a debate between gores and war travs so its really up to you
Sandstorm Treks (plus vit, + str, repair mods, + poison resis, good boots)
Marrowwalks (good for the dual stat mod, but nothing much else)
IK Boots ( Easily attainable, fairly good mods and good boosts if mixed in wiht other IK parts)

PERSONAL PREFERENCE- Goreriders

SHIELDS

Stormshield ( the best, hands down)
Whitsans guard( good for its fast block)
Tiamats rebuke, good elemental dmg
many others but i am a bit tired now haha

PERSONAL PREFERENCE- Stormshield

that was long.. anyway, those are some gear choices, hope it helps a little bit, and if anyone would like to help, i am interested in writing a formal guide for WW barbs. I read Darius' guide a long time ago, it was very good and i would like to make something like that for 1.10 WW duelers, MFers, PvMers, etc.

BTW this is not really a guide, so please don't criticize this as a guide, it is just me talking about some aspects of a WW barb.

EDIT: always read the fine print. I just wanted to mention though that "stone" runeword armor is very nice.

Sazabi, I might b interested in helping u with a guide (basic tips, some ww strats etc.) specifically aimed toward BvB and melee. One thing u should know is that angelic ammy + 2x angelic ring = bad idea... ya I know the AR boost is massive, but there is a slight bug w/ ww and def that I'm still trying 2 figure out. Also enigma is a terrible armor for bvb ww (well not terrible, but not great...). I've had great success with my 2912 def eth steel carapace, or another good one is an eth templar's w/ 15/15 stats (or close) w/ high def (2750+). Also dmg armors can be outstanding, but getting jewels for them is a ***** (as we all know 40/15max jewels r worthless and don't work cuz of bug, same goes for 40/10 mins... blah). On a last note, I find 10 in Iron skin is plenty, throw the rest into natural res or increased speed (not battle cry, cuz its semi buggy, it may reduce enemy def by 25%, but that literally only takes 25% of the total, in other words with max shout and iron skin giving well over 500% enh def it will only make it 475%... blah).
