Does anyone know of any "mage pally" guides (BH+Foh)???
Pen made a mage guide before but it was for pre 1.10, so I'm going to quote myself:
Okay this is how I would do it for all around dueling (finished at level 90):
19 Blessed Hammers
14 FoH*
10 Blessed Aim
8 Concentration
12 Holy Shock*
1 Conviction
20 Vigor
1 Redemption
1 Meditation
* Not sure this give the optimum FoH damage. Check SH's guide.
10xCombats+Anni
You will have the following:
~7.6k hammers
~3.2k FoH
level 14 conviction
with this gear:
Shako
Mara
Enigma
HoZ/Hoto
SS/Whatever charge weapon
Arachnid
Raven/SoJ
Magefist
rare dupe boots or waterwalk
If you want only around 6k hammer damage you can put the remaining points in charge or conviction.

Hate to tell you that you could have had ~7.2k hammers if you had done like this:
16 hammers
20 vigor
10 aim
5 conc
edit: funny, i calculated your skills and you should do around 7k hammers. not 5
Messed my build a little. forgot the anni ><
18 hammers
20 vigor
11 aim
8 conc
~8k hammers

No, same FoH damage. I used the same amount of skill points.
16 hammers
20 vigor
10 aim
5 conc
------------
51 points
Besides, you should have 7.1k hammers with your gear. Did you make this yet?

I'm referring to my first post in this thread

Yea im done and no i dont do that dmg
With the thing its 420% Concentration 2.10

When you calculate hammer dam you have to add 1 to concentration. Like this:
420%/(2x100%) = 2.10
2.10+1 = 3.10
then you can multiply it by the hammer damage. Otherwise, if you had less than 100%ed from concentration, you would do less damage with it than without it :S
I suggest you make that mage and check for yourself.

5.3 FOH / 5.9+ BH is the most versatile though.
I calculated as well t.t
Honor...what skills did you put to get that foh and bh dmg?

May be but major problem I have encounted during playing various chars (not only paladins mind you) is fact that your main attack should exceed 7K to be efficient killer in hell. You can probably get away with less but need have insane FPC speed. With sorcs if you are using fireball as a main attack (no recast delay) you can get away in hell with ~3K fireball. From playing pure hammerdin I have notice significant increase efficiency of killing in hell once my hammers broke mark 7.5k@10FPC - anything above that is gravy

Pal vs Pal you absolutely need 5K+ FOH dmg to do any dmg against serious duelers. I dont care if those puny 3k under FOH killing just as well. I only base a build when giving the most optimal gears to my opponents. ( 11/20 lr x 9 etcs...)
Honor...what skills did you put to get that foh and bh dmg?
20 FOH 20 H.Shock
20 BH 20 Vigor 8+ Blessed Aim 1 Concentration with 15+ combat skill 13+ all skill.
This isnt optimal dmg either...
The most is around
7200 FOH / 5500+ BH
6300 BH / 5300 FOH
Do you know where to find a blessed hammer dmg calculator?

I fully believe you that to scratch anyone with FOH you need conviction aura on +as many light facet as you can scavenge and min damage 5k but as a hammerdin you must have 10K hammer to scratch anyone (better 15K) - 6k hammers in PvP annoing at best

You actually believe that? 6k hammers is enough to take out most chars in a few hits plus you can spend the rest of your skill points in another attack (e.g. foh/smite/charge).
I duel in clan honor and temple...meaning no cta. Anything over 9k hammer is just overkill.

6k hammer transfers into 1k damage in PvP most hibrids/casters running at 3+K life so you need at least 4 hammers connected with 13+K hammers you need no more then 2 hammers for casters well save those sorcs that have maxed TK/ES. Most melee in PvP running with 5K+ life thus you will need 6 hammers to kill ... bearing in mind that you pretty much planted to ground then you attacking .... you be dead by time you get off 6 hammers

Okay, there are things called resists and charge/smite. Way easier to take out sorcs than with hammers. No melee chars stand a much of a chance against hammers. Maybe, and only, maybe a pure crusader could put up a fight. I don't know how you duel, but if you let melee chars come close to you, then you're doing something wrong.
Hammers cannt be blocked and cannt be resisted that the beauty of attack.
With melee you can just create hammerfield and let em come. With blizzard sorc unfortunally you have to chase - due to bug first icicle cannt be absorbed and it hurts no matter how much cold resist you stack maxed cold mastery will peirce it. With most cases you can play defencive and simply wait in your "web" of hammer. If someone teleport on top of you then with 125FCR you need about 2 second to get off 5 hammers - connection and reaction with come in play. With bonner ... ah hell leave em along.
So yes idea is let melee come close to you ... of course trough hammerfield

So if I understand you right you just stand in one spot and spam hammers.
Sound like a fun duel.

My thoughts exactly.
What would be more fun than stand 3 ft. outside of town, spamming hammers, and killing random individuals walking outside?
Man... What an awesome duel that would be.

so what good dueler stands in the middle of a hammerfield? too easy to get through one hammerfield...and it eats up all your mana. Also, who in bloody hell chases a sorc, unless they are a melee. Last time I checked, hammers aren't exactly melee and are best used defensively.

I've been using a mage for a while now.. against sorcs you generally want to throw a hammer or two, then run away a little, and throw 1-2 more up. You don't want to keep running in one direction, make a weird pattern so the hammers are all over the place, against sorcs, usually 1 conc hammer is enough.
And if they're careful enough not to run into a hammer, you always have a FoH to throw out. Throw a hammer or two, run away a little, a FoH, run s'more. As you can see, I'm a defensive player. :)
