I'm reposting this from the newb board, because this is my favorite board, and also the most knowledgable and nicest. Also, this board is very active in online trading, so i'm sure it won't be too far off-topic.

I've been playing for only a few weeks, and now I am "Rich." Not uber-rich, but somewhat. With one of my characters, I have a few rare Items, and a cool wand I want to give to my necro. I am rich by the standards of my new Necro anyway, hehe.

As, sooner or later, all of us n00bs realize, I need to trade up some equpiment between characters. Now I'm not completely ignorant to the concept of Mules, I realize they are any characters carrying the equipment to give to the other character, but I need specifics.

I want to know:

1. How can I trade equipment with my different characters online, or over a hub(that I would be willing to purchase, since I have 2 cpus)?

2. How, and where could I go about trading some of my equip for some cool stuff, like tal sets? I realize you could set up the trade on these board, but I have a 56k and have only taken D2 online once, and(though the attempt was less that valiant) couldn't figure out how to import my PvM character online. Mostly, I just want some specific instructions on how to actually get my offline only character online for a bit.

3. Is it even possible on a single 56k to trade equipment from my Meteorb to my Necro?

4. Once all that is done, how can I trade items in relative saftey, so I don't get stolen from? What if I go LD during the trade? Do I have the wrong idea about everything? Is there a trade window?

As with most online games, there is no substitute for experience. Level 50--DAOC Armsman, Palomides, Avalon Clan Moor(I have no Idea how long it takes to get to 99 on D2, but /days on DAOC showed 35 days of actual character specific game time at 50. I still didn't know everything, but I knew a lot, hehe. I'm hoping to take my meteorb to 99, but it's going to be boring not having the a MMORPG chat feature.)

i'm assuming you created the characters on single player. if you did that, u can't import them to closed bnet. you can play them on open bnet though.

i don't know anything about trading on single player, but if you head to the single player forum, they would prolly know. as far as transfering is concerned, i think you can do 2 comps on a LAN on open bnet that are in the same game, then just do normal trade. or you can grab a trainer(program for single player/open bnet that lets you pimp out a character with whatever you want). if you trust yourself to not abuse the power, just add the item to one char and drop it from the other.

if you play on closed bnet, there are ways to drop mule, but i don't think you are worried about closed bnet.

if you are playing on patch 1.10, it will take you a long time to reach lvl 99. i'm happy with a character once its lvl 80. in the ladder session, i believe it took 3 months to get the first lvl 99. and that isn't 3 months of casual play.

Trade forums all the way!!! DONT trade in TC as 90 % of ppl there will want to scam/rob/rip you off. Here is one site (from diabloii.net site so I think Mods wont kill meh)

www.rpgforums.net or exactly http://www.rpgforums.net/forumdisplay.php?f=21 for trade part

Look for your Realm, Ladder or NL et c. You can be almost 100 % sure that in those forums noone will rip you, very nice and honest ppl.

As for muling, its easy, you make game, drop items and 2nd char picks them. After about 5 minuts game is active and will be active even if you will leave for no more than 3-5 minuts. You can leave game then with both characters and enter with other - yet its not recommended with more expensive items due to high possibility of Realm down/temp ban in BN ( for too fast switching games)

You cant take single player characters to closed BN afaik. Only to open BN but this is one big hell of hacks cheats etc :)

Ok, I have a problem.

I get to Other Multiplayer/openB.net, and can create a game fine. However, no matter how long I stay on, I can never seem to quit, and join with another character. The game simply doesn't appear on the list. I try typing the name and password, but no luck.

Note, when I create the game, I can't adjust the space between characters levels, or the number of players allowed. This should be working, but It's not. Anybody got any theories. Should I /players 8? Also, when I type /players 8 in single player, does that have any effect, I keep it on /players 8, but can't tell any difference. Thanks.

For singleplay you should use ATMA to mule between your chars.
