I was helping this guy kill duriel because he joined my game just as I killed him.. so we went to a private game so he could kill him too. He was too weak to help much so he just stood behind me while my skellies killed. A grand charm dropped and he ran up to grab it before I could. I asked him what it was and he said +1 summoning +38 life... then I offered to trade for it but he just laughed and left.

Just follow the golden rule "never help anyone"
Whenever I decide to help anyone out, I don't expect anything at all from them. You can't trust a randon person on b.net so its pointless to expect anything from them.

Lol. I hate it when I am helping someone and then I kill something and an item drops, such as a charm or a unqiue ring. Everytime I grab it the charm is asways bad, and if I don't it is always good.
For one example I was helping a random person with maggot lair, I kill the big fat ugly one and it drops a unique ring and I run to grab it but the little >.< teles in and grabs it b4 me. Guess what it turned out to be an SOJ. Damn is helping people really worth it when you help em out and they can't even let you have an item from a monster you killed.

Do not believe people that say the unique amulet that they grabbed was in fact a perfect mara's or something.

isn't the point of helping people to help them...not to get an item :teeth:

It's also possible this person was just messing with ya...like most of these 9-15 year olds do now. It is really tough now days to find people that are mature and can actually be trusted.
I've been lucky enough to meet some of the most trusted people here in our forum...Fatty, Beat, Hammer(before his retirement), Snuf, and my friend Taboo.
With these people...I've been able to transfer numerous times withou having to worry about my items being stolen...and since they all know how much I truely do hate pubby's...we are normally in private games(unless someone needs to level fast).
The stupidity that is always shown it seems in pubby has gotten really old...really quick and I get tired of the mindless spam bots that always seems to show up in pubby also.

Could be +summoning to druid skills...If I had a plus summoning necro charm for every druid one I have I'd be very happy indeed.

If you had used a, lets say, fire sorc he would have told you it was a +1 fire skills with 38 life. He was a lier I think.
Why? Because snotties who find good stuff always want to trade it, no matter if they really need it. For insane prices of course. Also, if it had been the charm he said it was he would have showed you. Just to piss you off.
I know the kind and that's why I don't play in public games.
Everything that drops is fair game and thats the bottom line next time make sure they can't get a drop let him get killed then finish the boss off or the bone wall thing .as mentioned above ;)
well, if this happens for more than 2 times in a single game, 1) i'll let them get killed by creating nice portals with hordes of monsters 2) leave the game.

Finding somebody that you can trust is a big thing but being willing to do without is another.
When I mule I like to use easy to remember game names and it's usually somebody who is doing some questing. If they don't complain about it then I usually give them something for the use of their game. If they want some help I am usually willing to do that as well. When I do help I make a point of letting the person know that anything that drops will be mine do to the fact that I'm doing the work. Usually it's just runes and such that I'm willing to pick up. If it's nothing terribly exciting I just let the person have them. If they don't like to wait then they obviously don't need my help.
Harbinger is very right about having a group that you can rely on. I've tagged along in their games as well (when I was still online) and really enjoyed it. Mostly I just followed along and picked up what they didn't want. If it is somebody you can trust you can feel safe with doing just about anything. Harbinger has the information for my bnet account so that he can sign on and keep my characters from being deleted. It's nice because I know that when I do get back I will still have my Harley, White and both of my Homu's waiting.
Thanks again Harb.

I always reward people for letting me use their games for some lite transfering... usually i have a nice item or two for their char class and I chuck it to them.
Last one the guy got aldur's helm/boots/and mace.. he was thrilled.
I've given up on rushing people for things like forges.. they always scam... so I just don't bother.... I do like killing countess in people's hell games... then I can get their quest drops.. even when out of the party.... usually their so worried about andy they don't mind....

"You!"
"What?"
"Your not nicking MY drops *casts Bone Prison*"

Not a problem Goofy...everything is the way you left it.

I'd hate to take credit for that idea. Someone mentioned it on here a while back for Baal I think. Spam prison on Baal when hes at his last little sliver, and keep the drops for yoursel
I used to duel in "little forts" actually. Its fun.

'tis the wonders of the game... that's why i let the people die (and tell them to STAY DEAD) and then kill things xD if they come back to life, i kill anyways and they miss quest when they're running to portal so w/e lol

Nah, man, dont panic.... people are strange :)
Always helping other ppl when I have time. I have never took ANY item for rush/taxi etc within my whole DII playtime (over 2 years in BN). Never. It just sucks and when I see those moron spamming channels with "Hell rush for forge runes" I get mad. Usually I go to other channel just after logging, I am fed up with all those jerkoffs spamming, crying, using more ugly words then drunken psycho... But when I see nice guy, asking for something, really wanting to know some info on DII skills, chars, strategy, I just cant say "NO". Spent more time talking with ppl than playing, its just so good feeling to help honest people a little..(yes, I know, i am awful egoist and I want to feel better  )
Keep on ro(tt)cking in the free world

Anyone that helps, does it because he wants to. No one forces you to help. I help people every time I can and I want to. If I pick up the drops, fine, if don't, oh well... I'm just helping because I wanted to! Good or bad item? Who knows...
Just play clean. No hacks, no cheats, everything else is a part of the game and you have to deal with.
If it makes you feel better he probaly lied.

Course, I only did it three times - once to this guy who liked to spam a lot (moral: dont spam :P) And the other two times because it was fun, hehe. After that i stopped :innocent:
