View Full Version : A slightly different approach to the mercenary.

I'm in the process of making a fireclaws bear, for both PvP and PvM, and I'm not really doing it for the massive killing speed factor, but more for the pure fun of it. I've always played casters or distance attackers, and I'm having a good time with the melee aspect of my new level 11 druid. However, I thought I'd take things further: An act 3 mercenary. Take care of those pesky fire immunes, and add a little variation to the usual act2 mercenary scene. A few things:1)I WILL use an act3 mercenary, so please don't suggest anything except which would work best, 2)I know next to nothing about the pros/cons of each (I can assume we're talking about lightning or cold), and 3)Which gears would work best on them? Thanks.

I would go with a cold merc to freeze and help with crowd control.
Silence Phase
Coh Dusk
Stormshield with -req resist all jewel or cold facet if you level really high
shako with cold facet
I had a merc like that and he held up quite nicely. Damage never gets to be much, but at least he didn't die constantly.

Eh that above setup for an act3 merc is just slightly harder to achieve on ladder than non ladder :)

Hehe, that's a nice setup but a lil expensive for ladder. How about Sazabis' set for the frw/increased life/stats...?
