i plan to use a magezon with Freeze arrow + Exploding arrow, but the mana always run out very very fast, you know that even 12 mana potions can't really help when you encounter a large group of monsters.
plz help me with any suggestion you have and what is the importain thing that magezon should have? ias or high mana or high defence?
thx

thx slayer37, i spent time planning my new gear that i gonna use out now:
i using Mav's set right now, and i got a lot of mana problem.
NEW GEAR:
bow=Lycander's aim /4 skills/ 4-8% mana leech
helm=Tal helm /duel 10% leech/ all res 15%
belt=Atachnid /+1 skills/ max mana 5%
ring=raven frost / (and maybe a good rare ring, cuz can't afford Soj)
amulet= two options, can't decide: Mara's /+2 skills/ all res 22 or,
Moon /15%mana leech/ 3% life leech
Armor= two options, Skin of vipermagi/ +1 skill/ all res 25%
Tal armor/ 40% res cold, fire, and ligtning
gloves= i plan to use Frostburn first/ 40% mix mana. and maybe i will craft a new glove or maybe i will use a good rare gloves with +2 bow skills in it.
Boots=i can't find any good boots around, plz help with this.
that's all i can find the best gear by myself. feel free to spot any mistake out of my plan, i would like you guys to do so, cuz mistake is a step of learning :spy:
any comment would be helpful. thx

oh by the way, i didn't start this magezon yet, but i exp my old one which has Mav's set on her, she is a FA/Strafe zon, and she got a real problem with mana to spend on FA.
therefore i release that if i really use a Magezon, the mana problem would be heavier. so the stats points haven't plan out yet.
i think str no more than 100 points
dex just enough for equip bow
Vit and Energy ( need help with this plz)
thx

The bow would be best if it really had 7-8% ml. Check out Silkweaves that increase mana and give +5 after each kill.
I think your build needs a Razortail belt and enough pierce to hit multiple monsters. IIRC: Multiple hits = Multiple leech. But if nothing else, you will kill faster.
Alternating a few FA's with a "normal" attack would also help to leech back a lot.
Not sure if you won't get a resist problem with your setup (or if you care).

Well, i do care about res problem, but i think i can max it afterwards :uhhuh:
the most thing that i concern about is: mana run out too fast and i need to kill CIs monsters before they can chop me apart.
thx for the comment, and need more comment from everybody plz

NEW GEAR:
bow=Lycander's aim /4 skills/ 4-8% mana leech
Lycander's Aim is a good bow for magezons. I use this too. Upgrade this so that leeching would be better.
helm=Tal helm /duel 10% leech/ all res 15%
I use Harlequin's Crest. +2 skills, big boosts to both life and mana plus 50 mf and 2 to all attributes really make it the best helm for mages. One thing about magezons is that they normally rely on big mana pool and mana regen for their mana. The leech approach is viable too though... so Tal's Mask is best here if you are not mfing.
belt=Atachnid /+1 skills/ max mana 5%
If mana shortage is really killing you then I suggest Gloomstrap. It's the best mana belt there is IMO. 15% to max mana, 5% mana leech and 15% mana regen should solve your mana problems a bit and 15 to vit also helps.
ring=raven frost / (and maybe a good rare ring, cuz can't afford Soj)
That's bad. SoJ is the best ring there is for magezons. +1 skill, 20 mana and 25% max mana are really godsend for mages. If you are to stick with uniques then I suggest manald heal. 4-7% Mana leech and 20% mana regen. Or you can go for rare rings with dual leech instead and +mana.
amulet= two options, can't decide: Mara's or Moon
I'd go with Mara's. This is what I use.
Armor= two options, Skin of vipermagi/ +1 skill/ all res 25%
Tal armor/ 40% res cold, fire, and ligtning
I'd go with skin of vmagi. But I'd rather have Que-Hegan's Wisdom. +15 to energy and +3 mana per kill is better than 20-35 resists since you're running low with mana.
gloves= i plan to use Frostburn first/ 40% mix mana. and maybe i will craft a new glove or maybe i will use a good rare gloves with +2 bow skills in it.
Yeah. Frostburn is the best option here if you are still running low of mana. Otherwise, crafted gloves are better.
Boots=i can't find any good boots around, plz help with this.
Silkweaves are best here for your mana problems. +5 mana per kill and 10% max mana.
Hope that helps! Have fun! :yep:

Farming for +40 mana GC's will help increase your mana pool.

It really depends on the equipment that you can get. For me, I chose my equipment based on the +skills and mana bonus. I focused on increasing my damage (+skills) and maintenance of damage (mana considerations) instead of survivability (resists/defense/PDR). Other mods like resists were taken cared of by a lot of shimmering grand and small charms.
Based on your planned equipment, you will get resistances of 15 (Tal's Mask), 25 (Skin of Vmagi), 22 (Mara's), and 20 cold absorb so equivalent to 40 cold resist(ravenfrost) giving you a total of 62 fire/lightning/poison and 102 cold resists. In hell, these would be -38 fire/lightning/poison and 2 cold resists. Though I know many zons get by with worse resists, it would be more prudent to have more. If you want a better balance of mana and resists, I say ditch Vmagi with Smoke for 25 more resists and 10 more energy. The only thing going for Vmagi is the +1skill anyway. If you can get Chains of Honor then get it for the +2 skills and 65 all resists. If SoJs are really not an option for you then I suggest you aim for rare rings with mana leech and resists. For boots, I suggest Merman's Sprocket for the mana boost, 8% mana regen, huge poison resists of about 75 max and cold absorb of 55 making you almost immune to cold. If you can get Merman's then ditch ravenfrost for rare rings with at least 20 to fire and lightning resists and other mods preferably ml and + to mana.
Summarizing, assuming you can avail yourself of these gear, you'll end up with 15 (Tal's), 50 (Smoke) or 65 (CoH), 22 (Mara's), 2 rare rings with at least 20 to both fire and lightning resists (I strongly suggest SoJs though)and 0.75 to 74.24 poison and 55 cold absorb (Merman's) for a grand total of 127-142 fire/lightning, max poison and cold resists. In hell, there's a penalty of -100 to resists (-60 in hell and -40 in NM iirc). Doing Anya's quest gives you additional 30 resists. This should be enough for resists. This setup should give you enough mana to sustain your attacks also. 10 ml and 30 mana from Tal's, 10 energy from smoke (if you choose this), 4-8 ml and 20 energy from lycander's, 0.75 to 74.24 mana and 8% mana regen from Merman's, 5 ml and 15 mana regen and 15 max mana from gloomstrap, 40 max mana from frostburns for a total of 19 - 23 ml, 23% mana regen, 55% max mana and a mana boost of about 75.75 - 149.24 excluding extra mods from 2 rings and charms.
Well, this is all I can say for now so I hope this works for you. Have fun!
