View Full Version : My Hammerdin Seems a Bit weak. Plz Help

Damage is fine. Just the amount of damage he takes. My orb seems to sink real fast in baal games. Quicker then my sorc with no ES. Just seems a little fragile. Here's what I'm using:
PT Shako
PT Skulders
HOTO / CTA
PD Hoz / Lidless
War Travs
Arachnid Mesh
Magefists
Ravenfrost
Bk Ring
+1 Skill / 18res all + some other mods (will change for maras or a better rare soon)
Lvl 90
9k def
Just under 10k hammer
I have about 2650 life after CTA which seems to get zaped quite quick. I should have an Enigma in the next week which i hope with make me a little tougher. I think it may be the lack of DR doing it but i'm not quite sure. When i get the enigma i won't need the raven and will switch for a wisp i think. I'm max res in all and using a HF merc. May also change this to a def merc.
Tell me what you think.

do you know wether it is physical or elemental dmg taking you down?
if you could tell us that a directer help aproach could be given.

Do you have max block? <--- big factor against physical
Do you use redemption? <--- for nice, easy and fast healing
you only have 10% physical damage reduction, wich aint that much if you need to get close like a hammerdin... maybe there is some room for improvenment here. (maybe a ber here or there (sacrifice a little mf, enigma would help as well)
your resists may be maxxed, but still not more then 75%. only real solution to this is using guardian angel. would mean you would take 2.5 times less elemental dmg (from 75% to 90% actualy means you take 10% of the dmg done instead of 25%, so 2.5 times better... BIG improvenment). it would mean losing A LOT of MF however :rant: :grrr:
an other option is to get absorb... but in that case you need to figure out WHICH specific element is hurting moost. this will moost likely be lightning, a wisp may help in that case. if its fire you could try infernostride instead of wt.. costs some mf, but higher fire resists.
hope this helps..., but please tell us what dmg is getting to you the moost.
If you're a MF-er, I'd recommend swapping your magefists for hellmouth (fire absorb) and your arach for tgods (lightning absorb). You might want to swap your bk ring for dwarf star for more fire absorb.
This will affect the damage you dish out though, but it looks like you can afford pally GCs, so you can up it again with those. Anyway for a MF-er, you don't need like 10 K hammers so losing +2 skills won't kill you.
Of course if you want best survivability go for a Guardian angel templar coat, but like blackwater said, you'd lose a huge lot of MF.
I don't think its the physical damage thats hurting you since you have 9 K defence, I assume you have holy shield which is 75% blocking already.

Thanks for the replys guys. Just thought I'd give you and update. I just got an enigma for less then i thought (only 1211 def but i don't mind) and he seems much better. I have now ditched the Raven as i don't really need cbf anymore and put on a 17 absorb wisp which seems to be enough for the souls with the life i have. I am really happy with him now. :). Just having tele lets you move out of sticky situations and makes all the diff.
I didn't want to change the arachnid for T gods because I wanted 75+ Fcr and Arachnid + HOTO + Mage does that. I'm only after about 350 mf and I'll get the rest in charms. I'm now not happy with how much mana i have (550 after BO) so i'll be looking for some mana/life mana charms. Also as my CTA is in a flail, with HS on i can be on my 0 res all switch without knowing it. Whish i had have made it in a CS now. I'll trade later.
Apart from that all is sweet. I'd alowed 97 in str with 20 stat anni but only needed 84 for whyrmhide so not perfect but i'm very happy. This char will is will now be for Baal mf and rushing which my MF Pure Bliz Sorc can't really do.
Again that's for the sugestions and any other advice would be welcome.

how about switching the wisp for a soj, the arachnid for a tundergods, and your amulet for a 15+ faster cast one?
would solve your mana problem, while keeping same skills and faster cast break point. also tundergods is much more efective against lightning then that 17% absorb.
you just have to go find a good amulet, but they can come VERY nice. +2 pal skills + 20 fcr + resist all + life + mana anyone?

That would be Ideal. Even just changing to BK to an SOJ when i get the cash will help with mana. I will continue to craft to get that perfect pally ammy. Til then i'll just upgrade to a maras or a better rare.
