Smiter Questions

My smiter is having problems with resist so I was gonna make a silence rune word for him. Would you guys suggest it in a phase blade (fast but low range) or in a berzerker axe (slow but high range and more damage)
I assuming weapon speed and range affect smite speed and range, am I right here? Finally, if this brings my resists to max, should I use alma negra instead of HoZ-- seems damage would be better. Thx guys ( :

I would probably choose zerker but it depends on the rest of your gear. If you use alma negra you'll lose 50 res from HoZ. HoZ is much better imo.

Well, back in 1.09 a Silence Phase Blade was the weapon of choice for a Vindicator. If your using Smite + Fanat:

Berserker Axe: 54% (60%) IAS to reach 6-frames
Silence Berserker Axe: 34% (40%) IAS to reach 6-frames

Phase Blade: 8% (10%) IAS to reach 6-frames
Silence Phase Blade: 0% IAS to reach 6-frames

The SPB gives your a lot more flexibility is choosing your other gear. The range 2 vs. 3 is not that big a deal. The damage of the weapon itself is irrelevant.

One small thing I noticed with a Phase Blade over most other weapons was that it is indestructible. Though its a small issue, I noticed with other weapons that I would have to go back to town for repairs. A phase blade (or throwing weapon like the Lacerator) made this a non-issue.

Also, I think if you upgrade your HoZ and the average damage is equal to the Negra. Sure the str requirment is higher, but so is your def.

for people who have dueled extensively with a smiter, how huge will the 3 range difference be over the 2 range when dealing with a ww barb?

Also, with using a phase blade, you would need a lot of DEX....... and as far as i can tell a smiter needs next to no dex....

If you've already made up your mind, why the heck are you wasting my time with this post! The build is called a Vindicator not a Smiter. As far as "no Dex" goes, how do you think you can get max blocking at high clvls genius? :rolleyes:

There is a hel rune in the silence runeword that makes the dex req less of an issue
