How's this build look?

Alright, I'm not super fluent on building great, uber barbs in this new patch, but from what I have read/heard from great sources..this is the build that I will be using:

PK Gear:

Warcry gear:

2x +3 wc spears...duh..

Just a couple thoughts:

I know this isn't ideal barb gear but its what I have avaliable to me, and I think I should do fine. I was thinking about the following gear changes:

IK Gloves vs. ?

I was thinking some decent gloves with 20ias (Lava Gouts, Laying of Hands, etc), possibly Magnus for the lil bit of added attack rating. Any ideas? Remember, I'm not super rich :lol:


Stats (All base, at about lvl 85 or so):

Str: 125 or so
Dex: ? enough for blocking/decent ar
Vit: 300 or so
Ene: leave base

How would this build do? My true love is sorcs, but I know I can't survive without a strong melee character, and barbs are great.

Halciet, I know I've talked a lil bit to you about a BotD CB vs. Zerker, and I know I'm going to be going 2h quite a bit, but thanks for the advice. Any advice here would be much appericiated. Thanks in advance guys.

Don't worry about IAS gloves, only on-weapon IAS counts. Also, you might want to change your belt to a Verdungo's or even String of Ears for more DR

Firstly, pk is frowned upon here. If you are speaking of dueling, please make it clear. Secondly, sojs are not needed for non casters. Unless you are totally set on sword, zerker axe is considered the better choice. Goreriders or war travelers are good options. Highlords is also a good choice. Most melee chars prefer dracs grasp or the other vamp glove which I cannot remember the name of lol. As long as you hit the last ww bp you are fine. Also, bloodfist is nice as well as venom grip for the not so well off. Have fun.

I'm quite sure he meant PvP gear. Problem is... a lot of people are still confused between PK and PvP. They think PK=PvP.

Umm...yes, I DID mean duel/pvp/whateva you wanna call it. o_O


Basically, there are 2 things you can do now on d2:

MF or duel.

But the only reason you would MF is to find gear/accquire wealth to MAKE/fund good dueling chars..

The only reason I would use the sojs is for warcryin. Boost my life/mana more. Same thing for everything listed under WARCRY GEAR......

I know a Zerker would be ideal for 1h, but I am going to also be doing 2h duelin so...

PvP Gear:

394ed/14ll Noneth BOTD CB --> I'd go for an eth one :p
TGods--> only vs Foh'ers. Else it's best to use Verdungo
IK Gloves--> Best for PvP barb: Steelrends. Dracs Life tap doesnt trigger so not so good. Bloodfist might be usefull if you need some more fhr to hit a breakpoint.
Sandstorms-->Gore riders imo.

Dex: enough for blocking. Dex adds very small amounts of AR, only enough for block.

i really think you should change the wep. i think you are losing about 1-2k damage by not using an etheral.

your vit is too low: 125 str, 220 max block with stormshield (maybe 170 before botd and raven), leaves around 200-250 vit. i'm not familiar with all your eq, so i don't know if you are getting a bunch of dex somewhere else. enigma is a better choice for a vit barb, freeing up another 80 or so str for vit. basically, you get a max of around 510 total stat points for levelling to 99.

warcry gc's: a big ouch there. you are way better off with 20 vit sc's, with good 2nd mods. best though would maybe be warcry + 40-45 life. but, without sharp/fine sc's, your damage will also drop by a lot.

I'd love to go with an eth BOTD but sadly, I can't afford one. So, non eth is my best bet. :thanks:

Steelrends are also expensive.. I'll see what I can trade for.

I made a 1500 def "Stone" Boneweave, which isn't the best, but ALOT better than the Shaft I would be using otherwise. :cheesy: It's got the nice 60% FHR, but I'm not sure if that gets me to a breakpt...

A Verdungos would be ideal, but is it possible to trade for a low one for a Tgods? ^_^ I dont think there is much of a life increase btwn 20 (tgods) and 35-40 (verdungos). Not enough to make a HUGE diff..

I was thinking of shooting for about 100 base dex (items add 94), will that get me max/close to 75% block?

Anyone want to trade my +2 Spirit Keeper (40% fire absorb :D) for a Cham for my Arreats? (so I can use my other Angelic ring)

Honestly, I don't think the SOJs are doing you as much good for you as they would if you traded them.... wait check that, just read you're non ladder where SOJs = squat...

The 20 vit vs 35-40 vit of a verdungo's makes a HUGE difference with barbarians. Barbarians get 4 life for every point in vit. 15 to 20 * 4 = 60 to 80 life pre bo. After what looks like it'll be mid 30s bo, you'll have almost 200 extra life. Against melee, that means an extra hit or two. You might wanna keep the tgods on switch for assns and lightning sorcs though if you had a wisp vs tgods, the wisp is better.

194 dex is right in the area you need to be at about lvl 80.

stone can be the best melee-only dueling armor you could use. As others have said, enigma is the best overall. Here's the FHR breakpoint table. With arreats and stone, you hit the last breakpoint, which usually isn't too important with a ww barb.

dracul's aren't considered the best gloves for pvp seeing as ctc life tap doesn't trigger with ww. Steelrends are obviously top of the food chain, but you can also craft "blood" gloves for some nice gloves on the cheap.

Doing alright in PvP, do wish I could run a lil bit fasta tho :P


Here are his vital stats:

Life: 4339
Def: 19k
AR: 13k WW
15k Zerk
14k Conc

This AR is WITHOUT the use of Demon Limb..so once I get mine repaired..wooohoo. :P

i HAVE obtained some 56/16 Steelrends :D..However, they are eth, and only have 11 dur. left. :cheesy: Guess its back to IK when they break..

I'll work on getting a good Verdungos, thanks alot for the tip.

Is about 2.8-3k WW dmg alright for my level/gear?
