If you were to compare perfect stats BoTD zerker axe (non eth) vs. Beast zerker axe (non eth), the beast would come out to more dmg, right? The dmg benefits of BoTD come from the fact it is indestructible so can be put in eth weapons...
No.
Example:
100 damage weapon, 1000% ed from skills/str/merc.
NORMAL botd with 400% ed: 100 * 5 = 500; 500 * 1000% = 5000.
Beast: 100 * 3.7 = 370; 370 * 1186 (186% ed from Fanat) = 4388.
And that's not taking into account all of BotD's great bonuses, OR the HUGE ethereal bonus (which would push it to 7500 damage in this example).

wow, didn't think there'd be that much of a difference, ty for the response. testing a theory out...
fine small charms of vita:
20 3/20/20's = +60 max...
500 + 60 = 560 * 1000 = 5600
370 + 60 = 430 * 1186 = 5099
4388/5000 = 87% beast/botd dmg
5099/5600 = 91% beast/botd dmg
ed% jewels & fine sc of vita:
3 40% & 20 3/20/20s
560 * 1120% = 6272
430 * 1306% = 5616
5616/6272 = 89% beast/botd dmg
Any +max/min dmg you add in off weapon will benefit beast weapons more, but any off weapon ed% will benefit botd weapons more, cause of their higher base dmg.
So, more proof that botd provides higher dmg potential.

heh, of course using them both would rock :) I was just curious for my conc barb as he can't afford to get an eth botd zerker, but he has a non eth version and can now make a beast zerker...Once I get my hands on an eth zerker, I plan to make a frenzy barb using my non eth zerker and beast.

well in pvp-wise beast vs non-eth botd beast would be better for the ar bonus :) but obviously eth botd would own all damage wise. u could make up for the ar wiht angelics
edit: looked at wrong skill.
Well, that's somewhat true...though BotD has -25% target defense, +50 ar, and +30 dex, which is potentially 150 more base ar, so it could possibly give more.
