Throw axe or Harpoon for throw barb?

I,m thinking to build a thrower thats using axes.

Reason: U can max throw mastery and axe mastery for the xtra damage.

Question: Does this work ? I ask this because every throw build i read is talking about using winged harpoons and this like that, but a cruel winged axe (or whatever the name is) can do huge damage to.

Axe mastery only applies when using them as melee not when throwing. You can really go either way on the weps. I prefer hyperion javs, but there are arguments for each side.

PvP javs for longer range

Well the big thing is that i,m building my barb on classic. Like to know how it will do in pvp there.

My gear will be rattlecage armor and goblin toe boots.
Sigon helm and gloves for the 30 ias the life leech and the AR based on lvl.
H,Sarus belt and boots for the AR based on lvl.
1 manald heal ring and angelic amu and ring for the 10 to dex 75 to life and AR based on lvl.

I will end up with 50% chance of a crushing blow and a very high AR.
I will see if that will do the trick in classic pvp, if not i can always convert him to lod.

I prefer Axes because there are really no great unique throwing weappons (other than the Amazon only stuff) so you have to go with rares. If you use axes you can craft Blood Throwing Axes which have great mods.

There are no good uniques. You're talking about classic right. Wait you can't because you're taking about crafting. He can't craft in classic. In LOD there are at least five throwable that are as good as it gets. For axes and knives you have gimmershreds, lacerator, and warshrikes in expansion (warshrikes being the ultimate in pvp with the fastest throwing weapon available and the lacerators of course with the amp damage and almost as fast. For pvm you have to have either the lacerators or gimmershreds. Both take down ip monsters quick and easy. As for javs demon arch and gargoyle bite are both extremely good with elementals to take down ip's quick and are both fairly fast. The extra range will be need at times of the javs.
Now back to the original question, I would try to get ahold of some cruel flying knives of quickness, or flying axes of quickness. Both would do well pvp. The axes would be more usable i think, since they also do fairly well melee. Hope this helps.

Hah, I must admit u r very courageous as theres first of all NO magical or rare throwing weapons in classic at all, so best u r looking at is a 15% ed superior harpoon which cant even be repaired. (Max dmg is 80 or so).Maybe u can take down some sorc/ama with this- but dont count on any really fast kills :).
(Is pvp dmg 1/6 in classic too? if so i wouldnt even bother with classic throwers above lvl 25 tbh).

Hmmz to bad, well i will keep my classic thrower around lvl 30. He will be nice in low lvl duels. thx for the info.

Regular Throwing weapons in classic can't be repaired? Ouch

Well in fact the can berepaired but if dont do that before u throw the last one the will disapear. Classic Hapoons damage is 20 to 60 never see a superior one higher then lvl 70 :yep:

throwers dont go very well in pvp.
