View Full Version : Just made my first BOTD
In a Zerker axe, 389% 13% ll.
Anyways, Ive always been hesitant playing as a barb as my first char in 1.10 ladder was a barb which failed entirely despite more than decent gear. I really like barbs so 1.10 was a big irritation for me..
Now I got all the gear ready to make a barb that can kill once again ;)
The question is, is a BotD zerker any good for a barb since everyones using CB..
Can anyone advice me what to do? Use this or make a zealot/charger/druid or what? ;)
Assuming the weapon is good enough what stats should I go for (dex/ar, str asf.)

zerker is better than CB for barbs so don't fret about others using CB

Yes, zerker is the ideal 1 hand BOTD weapon.
Can someone tell me why, and/or link me to some site with some guides and tactics etc. can't seem to find any with the search bar.

Berserker Axe 24-71 dmg (47.5 avg) base speed 0
Colossus Blade 25-65 dmg (45 avg) base speed 5
CB is slower and does less damage
lets look at a perfect 400ed non-eth BotD
Berserker
120-355 dmg (avg 237.5)
Colossus Blade
125-325 dmg (avg 225)
the difference becomes more and more defined when the weapons are ethereal or superior, and thats before strength and skills come into play
also worth considering are the item requirements
Colossus Blade
189 str
110 dex
BotD CB=152/88
Berserker Axe
138 str
59 dex
BotD Berserker=111/48
not as important since neither requirements are super high, but its more to consider

Ah thx Ash but I thought the range and speed was better for a CB?
Another thing, is it only the weapon ias that adds to the WW speed now, and if so would all other IAS be for no good ;)
One last thing to consider... style:
Big, jagged edged sword
Puny little dink axe
I bet you can tell which one I have and like.
The damage is a difference, but not enough for me and I like the big sword look.

i have finally collected all the runes required for botd... still need to get the right weapon.... based on your experience, where would be the best place or high chance to get an eth zerker or cb... ?
Get a second BOTD axe, or a Beast (doom is useless) to duel casters with and youll really **** them up. CB is better if you cant pay for a 2nd axe cause you can use it 2h.

why not use a fat war pike?
wouldn't the higher avg damage and the increased range be better?

what build would make use of it? too slow for max WW speed and spear animation with regular attacks is horrifying

if you're interested in 2 handed weapons consider instead these two base 0 weapons
Ghost Spear & Great Poleaxe
both hit max WW speed, spear has range 5, poleaxe has range 5
GS 400ed

O.o what you smoking? Spear is range 5. There is no range 6 o_O

Both CB and Zerk have the same range of 3. The only real advantage the CB has over the zerk is that you can use it 2 handed at any given time.
As for the best BotD 2 hand choice for PvM,I'd say Ghost Spear since its got best damage output while reaching the last WW BP.

puh for a sec i thought i was only1 foolish enough to make it in CB just cos of the kewl look.
Beside in bvb its only the AR and Def that matters. The 200 extra dmg or proly even less doesnt matter a damm thing.
and yea there both range 3... imo the BA should get range 2... that puny little axe...

I am just curious, is your reason for the choice of the Champion Axe due to the speed? I have an BotD in an ethereal Glorious Axe that I use for Zerking. Will you use it for Concentrate or WW?

Will you use it for Concentrate or WW?WW most likely and Champion Axe is the only one that can hit the last break (of the two handed axes) point...too bad it's only range 3 :(
If you are using enigma for pvp, um'd wizardspike might be better than beast vs. casters

CB is different than OW and I think that OW is way more powerful. :)

I have had many BotD, but my fave has to be Great Poleaxe. It's Sexah, It's Big, It... is... :drool:
Zerker was coo, for a bit, but looks dinky and it's just main stream...
CB I havent used yet, barb needs lvled.
Lvling my druid that will use my newest GP right now. I only have the GP and CB now.

I was actually thinking about this as well. I've been hording the runes for months now, and trying to find a superiour eth. zerker axe but it almost seems hopeless. :( .. but I have found an ethereal superiour 6 socket champion Axe, +14%ED, and I was thinking about making one in it.
The only problem is that I know, the second I place the last rune in the champion axe, a quill rat is going to drop a zerker, oh well, what can you do.:)

that's a very nice axe...mine is plain...by the time I do have a runes, I'll probably have a zerker or CB and will make in it for the re-sale value...but if I don't then Champ Axe it is
