Ladder vs. Non Ladder?

Is there any advantage to being a ladder character other than getting a few more extras like sets, etc?

I read a little about it but I'm not sure if I understood correctly. Does your character get wiped on ladder reset or..?

the basic advantage is a relatively clean economy.

when the ladder resets, all ladder chars will go to non-ladder, keeping all their items and stats. so, this will be the only way for ladder only items and elite upgraded uniques to get into nl.

IMHO ladder is a lot better for the, econ, items and the monsters are a lot harder. oh yeah and you can play for a reason, to stay on the ladder. non ladder is almost like open bnet, its only fun for a short time. after ladder is over i will only play on it to help friends and duel them, i will stay a ladder player for the most part and hope there will be no dupeing of runes on the next season

i plan on dumping my stuff and starting over. sort of like forced mule cleaning. :)
