I recently saw on a thread that occassionally people use Shockwebs in between casting traps instead of FB? Can someone explain that to me? How big is the area of affect of Shock Web with 22 Spikes? Can anyone throw up a screenshot? I don't think Shock Web counts against your maximum trap count.
Shock Web with maxed synergies and 20 plus skills:
Shock Web
throw a web of lightning
to shock your enemies
Current Skill Level: 40
Spikes: 22
Duration: 3.6 seconds
Lightning Damage: 7-3655 per second
Mana Cost: 6
Shock Web Receives Bonuses From:
Fire Blast: +1 Missile per 3 Levels
Charged Bolt Sentry: +11% Lightning Damage per Level
Lightning Sentry: +11% Lightning Damage per Level
Death Sentry: +11% Lightning Damage per Level
1: your numbers are wrong, the min is one, for all of the lightning tree.
2: Area of effect is about as big as the middle of diablo's pentagram, BUT, and this is a big but, it can be spread pretty far, if your castrate/swing speed is high enough, i can more than adequately cover the area where baal's minions spawn, a few times over before they dissapate.
3: Nope, they don't count against max traps.

1. Sorry I got them from a site, that I guess wasn't accurate, but the max is close to right? On the min the difference between 1 and 7 is negligible.
2. That's still a pretty good area of affect
3. Good.
The biggest question, why would you use this over FB which will be close to 4500 damage per blast without a low min damage? Do you think its worth doing? It'd be cool if you think its worth doing to talk about it for a sec and sell us.
advantages of Fb:
1. Good damage
2. kills those light immunes dead
3. Splash damage can hit 3 or 4 monsters
Disadvantages:
1.fire immunes (duh)
2. Very small radius, even at level 40
3. sloooooow, it's kinda tough to catch the archers with it, they can just run away, but that's what a merc is for.
advantages of SW:
1. Big Ol Radius
2. You can cast a zillion of em really quick, and saturate one very small area, which adds up quickly, or spread em out
3. none of baal's minions are light immune (except the uniques occasionally, but colenzo and the m.o.d's are always fire immune)
disadvantages:
1.again, pesky light immunes
2. Low min, but you've gotta go by the law of averages
3...I can't think of a third one
All in all, do what i do: Use both :P
Btw. little OT thing, what does everyone think of my avatar? Took me FOREVER to get the pose/timing perfect. i think it turned out nicely.

Hmmm. Using it in between castings of LS is pretty clever. I apologize for some of my skepticism earlier.
One more disadvantage: 25 frame NextDelay. This will prevent any damage stacking from multiple Webs. Fortunately, there are no other ND skills a trapper will be concerned with on the list. Although it can interfere with partymembers and Shadows.

Hehe, it caught my eye before I even saw what you typed. Nice. On topic... It depends on the usage, but I use both SW and FB when my traps are up. If I'm doing a baal run, I use FB to finish off those pesky LI's. If I'm PKing and I know the guy doesn't like lightning I'll use SW to keep him moving (the duration is decent because I know where the enemy WON'T be for the next 4 seconds). If the guy is using a high light resist I'll use FB just to make him dance, but ultimately I'll be shooting him with my Widowmaker / Venom combo... All in all I don't FB is that great.

I use Shock Web all the time- In fact it was my main killer all through normal. I usually use Shock Web on my left button and light sentry on my right, with FB and MB as my alternatives respectively, (CB Sentry and DSentry are also on Hot keys). Obviously I switch depending on whether I'm facing light immunes or Fire immunes.
If immunities aren't a problem, my expierence is this:
Large Groups- Shock Web is better
Monsters that run around alot- Shock Web is better
The only time I've seen FB do better than Shock Web is against single monsters (or tight pack of 4 or less) who are standing still.
