View Full Version : Spearazon???
Hi,
This is my first post in the Amazon forum...
I just found a Stoneraven. I am considering using it to build a Amazon. Should I max the skill and synergies that give a little boots to this type of weapon?
20 Power Strike
20 Charged Strike
20 Lightning Strike
20 Lightning Fury (synergy and javelin on switch)
4 into pre-requisites
maybe finish into valk for meat shield
Is this going to be hell viable???
Thanks in advance,
klago

seems like you'll be able to ton a ton of damage, except to lightning immunes...

Max out valk before you hit hell and also get a might or holy freeze merc or the lack of a shield and tank will result in the monsters ripping you apart in seconds.

I'd steer clear of Lightning Fury just because it's TOO GOOD. You'll be a typical LF zon because it'll be too hard to resist the temptation to just Fury everything in your path. Nothing wrong with that, but it defeats the purpose of the build you're describing. If you want more synergy damage but want to be a spearazon instead of an LF zon, I'd put those 20 points into Lightning Bolt instead.
I'd stick with just one in Valk. I've found it's more useful to be able to recast her wherever you need her whenever you need her there. With those saved points, I'd invest more into the defensive passives and/or critical strike, all of which will also serve to help your valk.
BTW, Stoneraven is an excellent choice of weapon. Fast, it helps your defense and resistances, and that magic damage will really help against LI's.

There is no doubt in my mind, that you ama will achieve some awesome lightning damage, but how will you do to beat LI monsters ?
My slvl 90 Hybridzon has lvl 32 LF, and only one point in PS, CS, LS, and her LF damage is 1-1198. According to my calculation your LF (Lvl 32) will have 1-1856. I have only spent 22 point in PS, CS, LS and LF, and my LF is still am awesome killer, even in 8 player MPG (Hell), fx. Cowruns and Baalruns.
Unless you only want to play PvP, I think your build sucks, because you will have problems with LI monsters.
My ama use Titans with LF as main attack, but I also use Jab with great success, despite the poor damage 432-985 (lvl 23), because I have 85 % EAS (5 attacks pr. sec) and life leech.
Stoneraven is a good weapon, but the big minus is that it is 2 handed, and therefore you will hit often and hard.
If you choose to use a 2 handed weapon in Hell, I will recommend that you invest some points in the bow tree and find a good bow, WF is of course number one, but a Buriza is a excellent choice, because it is easy to find and cheap to trade for, and actually it is the second best bow in the game.
My Ama has GA lvl 16 and one point in FA. When I encounter LI monster I switch to my bow and freeze them with FA. My FA (lvl 4) has only 93-134 in cold damage, but the physical damage is 212-2215 and combined with 100 % Piercing its is extremely effective.
Generally
I think it?s a bad idea to invest 80 valuable points in Lighting Damage, because you wont be able to put many points in Passive and Magic skills.
A 2-handed weapon in Hell for a melee char (-Barb) means a lot of dying, and depending on your gear it will be difficult for you to achieve a decent resistance, so find a good 1-handed weapon and a good shield.
My best advice is that you read some guides. Hybridzons are very powerful in PvM
Good luck

flapserdk...I think you're missing the point of making a spearazon...certainly it will not be as powerful as a hybrid using a javelin and a bow but the idea is to try something different and challenging
klago, I myself am working on a spearazon now...I know I'm going to max charged strike and lightning strike (and steer clear of lf for the reason spiral suggested, though its not very powerful without pierce)...however the point of using a spear over a javelin and shield (other than wanting to take more damage) is the increase in physical damage so I suggest trying one of the physical skills too...I'm crazy so I'm gonna try impale...the durability thing doesn't bother me that much but the speed is horrendous...just bear in mind with a spearazon you're gonna be in for a challenge but it should be pretty fun too
If you use defensive play properly having a decoy out, a mercenary and valkyrie as backup, then impale will be a very strong attack and the slowness will in general not be a big problem for you. If you play a bit more offensively then you will need a good amount of speed for it to work out or you run the risk of getting interrupted during your impale attack.
There is some impale information here (http://www.homestead.com/lroumen/files/impale.txt), maybe interesting for other readers as well.
