I have a problem, I dont dislike any of the characters but I have not found a character that was fun enough past lvl 50 or so. I would like to have a melee character that can get thru hell but the other problem is that I have no items at all. It seems like every type of build I try is equipment dependable. What would you guys suggest for a fun character that can get thru hell solo/8-player games.

To get better items (which will make the game more enjoyable of course) you need to make a MF character. My first was a meteorb sorc. I know this isn't melee, but its very hard to MF in 1.10 with melee characters. I found this build very enjoyable, and you definitely don't need the godly items.
This was how my build was set up:
Fire ball: 20
Meteor: 20
FM:20
FO: 20
CM: 5
1 in prereqs
Stats:
Strength: 97 (enough for skullders ire, which is quite cheap)
Dex: Max block with rhyme heater, at lvl 85 220ish)
Vit: rest
Nrg: base
Try running the pit, and meph in hell, you should get good drops there.
I think that just about covers it, and i hope this helps you
Once you have Mfed for a while you should be able to make a very good melee character.

Practically all characters can solo thru hell,if handled properly...........i suggest you pick a class (barb, necro, pally,u choose)and then go build a particular build, like a poison and bone necro,or an avenger pally.Since you are keen on melee fighters, try building a song barb,or a hammeradin. For more builds check out this site's character info page.Hope that helps
I think a hybrid amazon works great. Lightning Fury with Charged Strike will blow away anything that isn't lightning immune, no matter what javelin you use (though a titans helps :) ).
For lightning immunes, get a bow and use Freezing Arrow with the Cold Arrow synergy. Again, we're doing damage based on the skill, not based on equipment. Better equipment makes for a better killer, but it's not out of the question to run it Ghetto style.

Pure javazon w/ maxxed Fury and Psn crushes (I'm not sure I've seen a lite/psn immune yet). With valk and a good merc a well built one can't be stopped. Less weapon equipment dependent than a hybrid IMO.
An IK barb can solo hell also, and the gear is cheap nowadays (IK armor goes for Mal at most, can get full set for Ist easily)
If U want a fun build that can solo hell w/o a lot of expensive gear, I'd go w/ a skellimancer.......Not melee, but still fun.
Of course there is Zealot and Hammerdin too....Not familiar w/ zealot, but U can build an effective hammerdin fairly cheap. Just not as fun a build as the others tho....

Lightning/Psn immunes are only a major problem in late A5 (gloams/Black Souls and the like) To deal with them get a merc, valk, lots of light resist/absorb and poke them. Then relize they will STILL kick your sorry tail and run away. Psn also generally dosn't work well on undead, although it DOES work, just kinda slow. There are lots of LI zombies and sometimes it's just worth it to jab/fend them to death.
For no gear at all I would much prefer a nercro as he can wear good MF and still be very powerful. Check out a summoning nercro guide, skellies rock.
Really there are a lot of things you can do without great gear, but great gear makes life much easier. Hang around and check out the various guides on these forums and pick something that interests you.
