View Full Version : PVM Assassin's anywhere?

I OC over everything, and in Diablo, it's cleanliness and appearance. I like to have at least 1 of every character to play with, then 1 or 2 unique builds.
Well, I have no assassins. I don't PVP anymore, and since 1.10 I haven't seen anything on any PVM builds.
I know that leech has been ravaged in hell now, but global physical resistance has gone away.
So what would you say is the best PVM only build?
Thanks,
G
No one has replied to this thread. Does this mean that no one plays PVM assassins anymore?
I've got some experience playing them, but I have just now started playing again since I quit a little before 1.10 came out. Has 1.10 completely ruined the PVM assassin or something? I never really play PVP, but the assassin is one of my favorite classes, so this would be devistating news.
I've started an assassin within the past couple days. I lost all my equipment and characters, so I'm starting from scratch. She's level 20, just got through Act 2, mostly on her own. She's super easy to play and level with so far, but considering I'm not even half way through Normal difficulty, this can easily change.
I've built her as an assassin I had before, who was quite successful PVM. I maxed BOS, dual-wielded claws, and used Phoenix Strike religiously. Great build. Hit super fast, and was never in danger because I could just run away. Fast. Leech was very beneficial because of the speed at which I hit. I liken it to a Paladin who uses both Zeal and Vengeance in the same hit.
So is this build ruined? Will any PVM assassin still be viable?
in 1.10, the kicker assassins got a huge boost. Now boots have listed damage and you can do well over 20k damage with a max tiger strike/max dragon tail build.
Maxing Burst of speed is a complete waste. You just need to find out how much you need to get the top speed on your claw based on how much IAS you have and the base speed of the claw. If you use Bartucs, you just need level 9 BoS with 29% IAS on your equipment to hit the top speed break (I think).
The assassins that got the biggest boost for PvM are trappers. You can do some insane lightning damage with traps.

I'm surprised that you say you haven't seen any post-1.10 things on PvM assassins. Of the stickied and compendium guides for 1.10, almost all are PvM-only or both.
The only assassin build I can think of off the top of my head, that is PvP-only is a fire trapper. Lightning trappers are excellent PvM, competing with skellimancers for the easiest untweaked first 1.10 character to make it all the way through Hell with. Check out the pure trapper guide and the "Ghost" guide (a PvM only traps hybrid - IIRC the other half is Blade Fury - that relies on stealth).
Kickers and trap/kick hybrids also look very good in 1.10, though I haven't tried one.
Perhaps nobody replied to your post because (1) you posted over a major holiday weekend, and we were all busy (2) nobody for whom (1) didn't apply felt like telling you that you appear to have been looking at an alternate reality version of the web if you missed all the 1.10 PvM assassin guides.
Perhaps nobody replied to your post...
Wasn't my post. I'm not gvandale.
Anyway, I guess I should have looked more closely. And thanks for the strategy advice.
So I guess what used to be martial arts assassins are now "kickers", meaning they all finish with Dragon Tail? Is Phoenix Strike viable, or is everyone still hooked on Tiger Strike?

I posted this today (monday) during the middle of a business day. I cannot get to the strat compendium from work (where i do most of my surfing) so I cannot see those guides. In the sticky is mostly pvp afaik.
so kicks or traps for pvm.
how does a light trapper deal w/ light immunes?

Pheonix is really only viable in Pvm If u max at least two of its synergies. Most people max CoT, and then its personal preference whether u max BoI or FoF. Most people Afaik max fof so that meteor charge from ps gets a real nice damage boost.
I maxed BoI simply because mine was a pit runner and I wanted something to freeze those damn archers in the pit (and they are lightning immune). I dont remember if BoI increases freeze duration on the third charge of ps, I dont think so, but I dont want to give bad info out :).
how do we deal with light immunes? Fire blast and a good merc. my merc is doing 4k, with knockback, crushing blow and insane speed. that takes care of those pesky light immunes. DS works too, since it deals fire/phys damage as well.
Fusysins is stricktly PvM builts with right gears its virtually immortal char. Unless you do something REALLY stupid you wont die. Main investment here in shadow tree - maxed fade, venom and SM and 1 point in BF is litterally all you need from skill tree. Toss couple points in MB and DS and you singnificantly increase safety and killing speed believe your or not but furysin built normally finished before lvl 80 leaving rest point for you free to use in any place you like

I plan on make a dragon tail and tiger strike assassin for pvm and problay using a holy freeze merch and shadow master to help out
does the dtalon build posted in the guides section work in PvM all the way through hell in SP?
what do fusysins use as their other skills besides the shadow disciplines tree?
what other assasins are viable in PvM soloing through hell?
thanks
Usually complementary skill for furysins is death sentry some like it maxed some think ~7.3 yards is good enouth range for copse explosion. Couple things all furysins have in common - maxed fade, maxed venom and very strict gear (guilliame face, gore riders, 75+% total crushing blow, 50+% deadly/critical strike, weapon that proc static field on striking). If you want learn more about furysins check sticked guid here

C/C WW sin using Chaos+ Shadow Killer + Draculs is awesome for PvM. Massive Life tap being spamed, and freeze target..

Since this is kind of a relevant thread, I was curious to know..
I'm going to make a TS/DC 'sin to solo (so bored with rushing and blah blah) anyway. I've heard of some kind of bug that affects AR (massive AR but missing a lot)? Is this true? And if so, has it been patched?

Never heard of such a bug....Dragon Claw and Claw Mastery give the correct listed amount of AR per level.
EDIT: Oh wait, I believe there was a 'whiffing'(missing) bug for every follow-up strike of DC in 1.09(can't quite put my finger on what caused it, though), but this has been fixed in 1.10.
If I not mistaken TS not work with DC...
Aka if you use TS to charge up it will affect only primary claw and while you will charge up TS you will track load potential damage that you would do otherwise using just plain DC. I think most using TS/DT not DC
