Try to get hold of tals armour, and if you can the belt and amulet too. This produces a very strong build and alot of MF. The required strength for the armour is mid 70's? I guess the exact amount doesnt matter though because the requirement is less than skullders ire russet armor, so you should have the strength  Even if you cant get hold of the amulet and belt, i suggest using the armour anyway (with a P Topaz of course!)

Always research the product you are upping to see requirements...

is there a formula for up'ing or something? so i may see the result? also, does an up'd skullders at least have a high trade value?

If you upgrade it, it will go to the next version of it, Russet Armor Skullders(Exceptional-Unique) upgrades to barlog skin skullders(Elite-Unique)

What'd you think "Upgrading" does lol? That would be nice if it upgraded it for the def but not stat requirements though. .but too bad for you it does.

Also, if you use StormShield it wouldn't matter since they are both 165 Strength Requirement. . for mfing Mephisto I usually use a SS and get him to go in the circle. .I get good block with the SS so when he is up close I block when he wacks me. .he dies very quickly with a blizzard sorceress, and my drops seem to improve here

I've asked questions on this subject before and never really received the answers I wanted. I wish there was an upgrade guide that listed all items and what they upgrade into, along with their requirements (hint, hint).

Game, there's no guide necessary because it's pretty common knowledge.

Go to the Arreat Summit and read the names of normal, exceptional and elite items... they all have matching pictures.

A Short sword looks just like a Gladius which looks just like a Falcata... they're even listed FIRST in the swords sections... that means they're the same weapon, but one is normal, one is exceptional, one is elite. If you upgrade a Short Sword (rixots keen for example), it becomes a Gladius. If you upgrade Bloodletter (unique gladius), it becomes a Falcata. So it goes with ALL upgrades.

Upgrading to the new level means you get the strength and dex requirements listed for their new level. A Balrog Skin always has a strength requirement of 165 unless there's a mod that says -x% requirements.

Upgrading from Normal to Exceptional makes the level requirement the same as the exceptional weapon/armor type + 5, and Exceptional to Elite goes to the elite level requirement + 7 (and a normal that gets upgraded all the way to elite will have elite + 12)

You should also read the Arreat Summit's Horadric Cube page. The recipe for upgrading items seems fairly self-explanitory.
