Should I go with fireball or firewall?

I'm wondering which way is the best to go. I figure if you synergize fireball the damage could get pretty high up there.

yep, that's the basic idea behind the meteorb build.

Fireball and Meteor synergize each other and so both benefit with the addition of Fire Mastery.
Firewall requires less points to max with Fire Mastery, but does less damage than both Fireball and Meteor together.
Fireball/Meteor give you 1 spammer spell and 1 timered spell.
Firewall is always timered.

Well I was going for a Firewall\Frozen Orb sorc so I could handle any monster thrown at me. But I don't want to be borked in nightmare and hell because I'm not doing enough damage.

Since you are using FO you might take a look at sasjas Meteorb build,that is if you haven't invested more than 1pt Firewall yet. Then you can still go the Meteorb route which will give alot more damage on the Fire tree combined with Frozen Orb.

Meteorb is one of the most popular "cookie-cutter" builds for the Sorceress.
