I the idiot I am, for some reason DLed a Inventory Drop program. Thankfully I turned my computer off before it could finish. Thankfully I didnt have my Tal Ammy or Armor on at the time (whew). But I did lose 5 items I liked. One being an Occy (you all may not want to part with one), 2 Raven Frost Rings, Frostburn Gloves, and Silkweaves. Those items arent terribly valuable cept maybe the Ravens and Occy but I would REALLY appreciate any help you guys can give me. I am currently running my spyware deletion software so it wont happen again. I know it was my fault but can you find it in you heart to help a player out?

i think your only hope is to delete and reinstall d2. if i'm not mistaken, backdoor hacks like this replace the main .exe file, so any scanning won't detect it.

it may also be a background program. press ctrl-alt-delete and see if there's any programs running that are suspicious. if you see any, do a search for the file and then delete it manually. you will also need to change the windows startup directory.

Well it was an EXE file does that matter, should I uninstall D2 and change my password then? I deleted it and scaned comp.

Forgot to mention I am on USEast Ladder Softcore. Sorry

whatever form it downloaded in doesn't matter. .exe could have been a self-unpacking .zip file.

changing your password won't matter.

realm doesn't matter.

Sounds like you have some decent items left... I say get rid of this file, thats your main concern, then go farm mephisto and replace the items yourself... ;)

i accidently dled one too, but before it got everything, i alt+f4 out of d2 then restarted comp. no more app, but missing items :(. you should be fine after the restart. but, i only opened it from location (temp files) not to hard drive perminantly (sp?)

Never join those 'i'll show you...' games or take files from someone that says they can do 'this and that', if something looks to good to be true, it probably isnt, nothing comes for free ... unless its from the low lvl item fund ;)

I downloaded it but it was supposedly a Clan Membership. I deleted the file and reinstalled D2 and just in case changes my pass, along with my 2 Spyware programs and a virus checker. I learned my lesson the somewhat hard way. Thankfully I only lost a semi-valuable item.

hehe, its fun to play along for a while with the idiots. i mean, when u get bored of killing mephisto over and over again, its fun to sit in a game and SAY ur dling the program and telling the guy it isn't doing anything.

you people come and ask for stuff after purposely d/ling a program to either hack or dupe and come begging for items?
screw that.
anyone who tries messing with the game deserves all the crap they get out of it when it backfires from all the other sinister basterds on bnet.
why would you be so stupid?

calm down buddy. they are noobs. that isn't an insult, its who they are. they are beginners who don't know any better. i was scammed when i was a noob. i only lost one item, but it was the only decent item i had.

i can understand the hatred for ppl asking for items. that can be construed as arrogance (as well as just plain not knowing any better). but you can't hate a noob for acting like a noob.

Exactly mathil they did learn their lessons no point bragging on about and making them feel like ****...

When i was a noob i traded occy for a manald heal being told it wad the most godly sorc ring in the game, after that i didn't make a fuss about it, whenver someone offers me manald in a trade, i just smile =P

I got scammed once. And what did I do. I went out and started trying to find what I could to replace what I lost. Funny thing is the guy that scammed me got some pretty crappy stuff. Just do what anyone else would do man. Try to find what you can. I ended up getting better stuff back than I lost, all because I tryed to get it with what I had.

They'll usually run right up to you ... without saying a word, and try to open a trade box for you to show them what you have. That is if they don't have a hack.

The "join my clan" scam is all over USEast Ladder. I got sick and tired of seeing all the bogus games, so I spent a few hours the other day going in and harrassing the con artists until they left.

You'd be surprised how many kids out there want so much to join a clan and get suckered into doing this. Every game I popped into someone was just about ready to download.
