Blocking? WHy?

Is blocking really nessessary esp. if you are a sorce?????? Everyone says to put dex to get 75 % block but why? your not really going to do much melee fighting.

and also why is it always 75% how come no one ever says like 80% or 95% ? it probably can't be 100% cause u'll never get hit but why not above 75%. is it not possible?

75% is max block. Trust me in hell its very nice. Monsters are much faster and ranged can be a killer.

Man, I wondered why the heck blocking was so praised in the sorc forum also, then I gotta wizardspike and started using a shield. Though my chance to block was only like 50% the difference was amazing. Now to start a new sorc with a better dex.

I don't find blocking useful for sorcs, given that 80% of my characters since D2 are sorcs. It helps, but I'd rather max vita because it's actually safer.

Aehm, either if you go max-block or pure Vita, both ways built to max pretty even each other out....
WIth pure Vita the nice thing is that you dont have to care about what shield you use concerning blocking, but you can simply pick the better caster shield.

When you look at HC, most people will go max-block. I think tha tspeaks for safety. The ultimate combination is high life and max-block =)

Facts:
Blocking is capped at 75%. Thats why everyone speaks of 75%.

It helps ALOT against any kind of ranged and melee attack and it can also block some magical attacks like those red balls from Succubus and some others. Not all though.

Think of it this way. When you block you simply dont take damage. Taking no, or as less damage is possible, is kind of the goal of Sorc, no?
With a VITA build you will take damage, since there is no block, but because your life is so high, it might not matter.
Successful block = no damage :) That simple.

I can be a not too careful player sometimes, so it helps, since block helps me when i am unaware.
I guess its a matter of personal choice.

IMHO it dose not matter what character you are, get max block with at least whitstans. this shield can get nic e block with lil dex. blocking 75% and have a high def is less chance to take dmg.

however when i am using my ww sin i love it when the guy i am dueling dont have max block, dead in 1 ww :lol:

just try it. if you've never had a max block char before, you'll be surprised.
