Hi, I'm a pure light sorc, and I was wondering if there was any way I could do light damage to those pesky light immunes in hell. Are -enemy light resist% items like Cescrent Moon or Griffon Eye sort of like Cold Mastery in that the monsters can't be immune to begin with in order for the -enemy resist % to help do damage?

Thanks for your help!

The only way for a pure light sorc to do damage to any lightning immune monster is if the monster is being affected by a pally's conviction aura. -% light resist does not work on light immunes the same as cold mastery does not work with cold immunes. The best thing to do in a situation against a lightning immune monster is to have a merc or just tele by it.

conviction Or Lower Resist... (which can be acquired on Wands as Charges)

Conviction and Lower Resist can in theory break elemental immunitues. However, when used against immunes the effectiveness of the resistance reduction is at 1/5th the normal reduction. Considering fire/cold/lightning immunities in hell are 100, 110, 120, 130 and upwards and ones with 100 or 110% are note quite the majority, the conclusion is that a wand of Lower Resist is pretty much useless when it comes to breaking lightning immunes, especially after act 1 hell.

Would the lower resist wand in conjunction with griffon and crecent moon work though? I'm assuming once you break the immunity with the wand the other -%'s would count as full?

yes, if the wand breaks it. but, the wand must break it by itself first.

With most LI monsters a lower resist wand will not be able to break immunities, also for the reason that the lvl of the charges is not high enough.
I played with a friend of mine who had a Necro and he was able to break Cold immunity on one of the Ancients for a short time.
When this happens you will see the immunity disappear when you keep your mouse hovered over the respective monster.

As previously said you will need a lower Resists wand and then preferably Griffon's Eye with lightning facet. This definitely won't break all immunities, but breaks few of the most important ones like those lightning immunities that Travincal Council and Black Souls have. Other than that You need to have a strong mercenary with good gear. On my pure lightning sorc's HF mercenary I had Reaper's Toll, Ethereal Gladiator's Bane and Vampire Gaze. All socketed with jewels/runes. That merc was really good with crowd control and was able to kill those immunes I could not.
