Hello everyone! I just got my first Ladder character up to level 49.

I made a Summoner, because concept-wise they can't be beat!

Anyways, long story short... I just maxed Raise Skeleton and Mastery, and I'm seriously tempted to forego Revives and concentrate on maxing Corpse Explosion and Dim Vision. However on Arreat Summit, it recommends just a point or two, and then rely on + skills (but they also say that skeletons are unviable, go figure). Do you folks have any improvements you could recommed?

Also, thematically I just love the shrunken heads, but the block percentages seem REALLY low, do you think it would be good to strive for max block? Or would I be better off sinking points into Vitality? I have 110 stat points saved up, and I'm starting to feel the pinch as I head into Nightmare.

I just found a Mosers Blessed Circle (WOOT!), and as much as I love a little head, the humongous resists are calling me....

well, anyways, thanks in advance for all the help!

check a lot of the posts in this forum, then check back with us. Gimme the moser's!! Anyway.....Are you only doing PVM???
I have 55% block and that's fine for the amount i get hit(pretty much never)
Level 83 Nec
40 mast 35/skele.
I only did CE, Mast, Skele, 5 in mage or so, (enough with item skill+'s to get more men, around 9 mages)

Other than that everything was pretty much, easy. Put points wherever you want and it will not really affect your killing, I added a few more to amp cause i wanted a bigger radius, and put 1 in every curse, but i get so many + skills that each curse around 8 works fine. Don't even ever cast dim vision. blah

I currently have a lvl 50 Summoner build that rules. Honestly, I don't think revives are even remotely necessary, simply becuz they're unreliable in terms of what creatures you'll have access to throughout the game. Usually they're terrible (in terms of killing stuff) up until Act 4, which means 3/5 of the game you won't be using them.

I currently have +9 to all skills from items for a total of 11 skels (slvl 29) and 7 mages (slvl 15). Combine that with a lvl 48 might merc and amp damage and each of my melee skels do roughly 960 damage each! That's over 10,000 phys dmg per sec when attacking en masse, and that doesn't include the mage damage. With that in mind, I find it it unnecessary to add revives. I do have a fire golem to attract attention, tho. :D

you dont need more than one point in dim vision.

you dont need more than one point in dim vision.

That is if you can get +15 to skills. Seriously, if you want a useful DV in Hell you need to offset the fact that the duration gets quartered. With 16 points you can get a 9.25 second DV.

Thanks for the advice all, It does help.

Just one thing that wasn't addressed: For summoning Necros, is achieving max block feasible? Or even desireable? I know we don't get hit much, but to tell the truth, both my skellies and my merc are, shall we say, riding the short bus to school. I have to go running around the monster packs in order to get them to attack and that exposes me to a little too much action. Is there a hidden technique I haven't learned yet, or are they truly "special"?

Ash, If you ever feel like moving to USEast, look me up, and we'll rock the Casbah.

That goes for YOU too, hear?

You can get Max Block if you desire. But it really is not necessary. Besides if you run you will get your block reduced to 1/3.
You want to walk not run. Do not do any running. Running is bad. Just walk slowly and let your minions form a cloud around you. If they seem to lag behind just stand still for a second.
