If I am correct, we are not supposed to advertise clans here?

Unless I am mistaken, I don't think there's an actual rule against clan advertising, provided that it is done in the right forum (this one, the player matchup). I wish it was otherwise, though, but hey, that's just me.
The problem is that many so-called 'clans' these days are little more than elaborate scams. Sad but true.
I had no idea that this was the case until a couple of months or so ago when I voiced a desire to start a clan of my own. I had been a member of an Evercrack guild for a couple years and it was a wonderful experience. However, after my idea was pretty much shot down, I did a bit of research and realized why so many D2-players hate clans ... and I don't blame them for not wanting to start one with me. D2 does not have the spirit of honor and trust that EQ has unfortunately. :(
Snowieken is correct though. It is okay to advertise clans as long as you do so here in the Player Matchup forum.

Ok, I was basically looking to see if I could post about the clan that I am apart of, but if you all think it really isn't a good idea to do so, then I won't :D

Hmmm. I'm not sure what scams you are referring to. However, I can imagine there are many variations out there. It really doesn't matter if you're in a clan/guild or not, you need to exercise caution. It's a sad fact that that there are folk out there who ... well, just plain ain't nice.
Our Guild is small and we are not interested in ever getting very large. The people in our guild have been together for a while and a level of trust has developed. I wouldn't say we were the best out there, but we're still growing (not in numbers, but in refining the concept of a guild).
If you're gonna start a guild... start with your friends that you play with often and already developed a bond of trust with. Keep it fun and make it interesting.

Another point, some of the clean and honest clans/guilds out there do not in general advertise themselves all over the place. ( Like the one I am in in particular.) The members are the first line of defense, as we do not cheat, hack, steal, pk, or do anything else that is of a shady nature.

The Clan I belong to is the same way, we are Legit (No Hacks, Cheats, Dupes) Purist (Do not trade, Period) players. We don't advertise much at all, we have a post on the Clan Hall on Battle.net and just wondering if its a common trend to place an ad here on Diablo.net.
I was just curious for future reference.
Thanks all.

I think this would be a good place to post your "openings". The only "bad" place would be here in the diabloii clan/guild database. That thing is so messed up it's ridiculus. They need to do some serious house cleaning.
