As I meantioned in another post, with my fireclaws/rabies druid, I choose not to go with the bear in dueling because of my lack of AR, thus, the wolf has been a better choice for me. I just cant hit a damn thing in bear form, lol. Since I will not use bear form, 6 shaels is totally useless, as I will never hit 4 fpa with fireclaws in wolf form anyway.

I tried to use the calculator, but it doesnt include Fireclaws as a selectable attack.

Heres the question: How many shaels is the minimum I can get away with to get myself a 5 FPA fireclaws attack in wolf form? I'm pretty sure its 4 shaels, for 80% IAS.

Heres the 2nd question: What the best use of the remaining 2 sockets (presuming I need only 4 shaels)? I was thinking 2 ith runes, which would be -50% to target defense, which is reduced by 1/4 in pvp, so it'd be -12% to target defense. How about 2 fire facets for increased damage and lower resistances. This could add up to a maximum of 20% increased damage, with perfect facets, and if they are not stacking fire resists. The other option would be to put one fire facet and one ith rune.

So: (this assumes 4 shaels will produce 5fpa FC in wolf form)
Shael Shael Shael Shael Ith Ith?
Shael Shael Shael Shael Ith Facet?
Shael Shael Shael Shael Facet Facet?

Thanks!

my fireclaws/rabies hybrid uses
four shaels and two 15%ias/AR jewels
giving me a total of 110% ias(critical base minimum) and 135 attack rating.
I suggest the same to you

but the AR/ias jewels are very expensive I must warn you, unless you find someone who doesn't know this...
I payed mal for one and pul for the other (the mal one, the guy knew what he was selling -_-)

Yeah, I realized that those IAS/AR jewels would cost me too much, which is why Im not going to try and get them

But that leaves my question unanswered. Will 4 shaels make the 5 FPA breakpoint, and if so, what should I socket in the last 2 spots?

TIA

no, you need 110% ias

edit: actually I know little about the bears breakpoints..
but im 100% sure on this for a wolf with fireclaws

No, you are misunderstanding, Pent.

110% (6 shaels = 120%) for fireclaws is for FOUR frames per attack. I want to know if 80% IAS is enough to get me FIVE frames per attack. Sorry if my earlier posts were not completely clear, .

4 shael 2 ias

or

6 resist all ias

Those are your best two choices.

Ok, 6 IAS jewels makes 90 IAS. Which will obviously be 5 FPA, since it is not 110% IAS (needed for 4 FPA). How much IAS do you need for 5 FPA at the minimum?

if 80% is the bare minimum (someone help!!) then your best bet is 4 sheals and 2 eth runes, since imo chance to hit them is alot more important then damage...if you only hit them once in 10 swings...
but if they are low defense, like sorc, amazon, necro, then maybe you should consider a weapon switch of a very fast high range weapon socketed with fire facets

FC Minimums:
5-Frame Wolf - 110% WIAS Phase
4-Frame Bear - 110% WIAS Phase
5-Frame Bear - 85% WIAS Phase

Pent was right when he said that 110% is the 5-Frame Breakpoint, and if you use the Attack Speed Calculator, it verifies this. I also pretty sure this is mentioned in the Flaming Rabies Guide also. 110% for 4-Frames on a Wolf is for Rabies, not Fire Claws. This is why a Bear is more ideal for a Fire Claws build. So the only way to get a 5-Frame Fire Claws on a Wolf is through the use of 4-6 Shaels and 0-2 Mod/IAS Jewels in the remaining sockets.

Kaeka, Eth runes give -25% target defense in a weapon, Ith give +9 to max damage. Just to clear up any confusion.

Personally I'd go shael shael shael shael eth eth.

yeah, i noticed that after I couldnt edit about the eth ith thing.

Anyways, acording to victus, I need 110% ias just to hit 5 FPA with fireclaws. So apparently, if I only use 4 shaels, I will have 6 fpa with FC on wolf. On the calculator, what attack do I use to show how fast FC will be?

Select Wolf and then Fire Claws from the drop down list under it.

I must have had an older link to the calculator. The link I had didnt have the fireclaws on the dropdowns.

I used the link on the sticky and they were all there
