View Full Version : Aldurs set for wolf druir?
Will it work?
I just found the Aldurs Armor, so im pretty excitin on make a druid, and i always liked shape shiftin wolf druid.
I think that Aldurs weapon got to low damage, but the whole set gives me 350% ED. BUT not on the weapon, so it will make a diference of 200 dmg.
Shoul i forget about Aldurs full?
thx for the help.

I've found the boots and been using them on my necro when he's not MFing. Yesterday found the Mace on NM Andy - looks like a fairly nice weapon - it has 3 sockets in it by the way, dunno if the item guides mention that?
See what you mean about the damage though.

I think if you've got the whole set you'd just have to make a "Belgarath" character (have you ever read the Belgariad series by David Edding's? Belgarath is Aldur's chief disciple and can turn into a wolf to fight!)

I doubt very much I'm the first person to notice that coincidence, there have probably been threads on here about it already!
its a really crappy set all together, but the boots are nice by themselves...
you could make a shifting druid around it... its an ok set for the mid levels, but once you get to 70's or so, you'll want to switch out!!!
I don't even know the requirement on the armor

Item upgrades only work on Rare and Uniques right? Not set items?

i say forget aldurs set, it is the worst set out of the other class only sets. all because the weapon has horrible damage in hell, even with the full set bonus. the 350%ed used to be applied (in the beta) differently, you would get a lot of damage. But oddly enough, in realms, equipping the full set, the extra you get isnt sufficient to roam in hell without any difficulities.
if it was possible to upgrade the weapon... then.. this set would be great.
That goes for more Sets - Natalya's comes to mind... Since you can't upgrade the boots they're worthless for a kicker... Bartuc's is better for a MA and as to a Trapper - let's not even start about that.
Looks like Blizzard forgot to take that into account with their upgrading.
Must say that the Aldur's set will set help a bit until you can get to the real decent gear though :)
At level 45, mace helm and boots on my werewolf are absolutely devestating. I plowed through Nightmare up to act 4 without a single death or pot used. Haven't fought diablo yet... but I doubt I'll have problems. I plan on switching to Bonehew or eth edge when I enter hell difficulty... then eventually a tomb reaver and maybe a BOTD eth warspike if I ever find the runes.
Btw I have the mace shaelshael and ED jeweled.

BOTD eth warspike if I ever find the runes.
Never use this weapon on druid. You will be cool in the eyes of Bnet kids but you will be noob in the eyes of dii.net druid forumers. It is slow for druid.BOTD giant thresher is the best or maybe the very best is eth Tomb reaver ed/ias-ed/ias-zod.
I myself think of trying Doom thresher since I got the runes and a nice 15ed superior thresher.
I'm using the set on my Wind Druid. Yeah, I know, it's stupid not to use Enigma armor and Wizardspike. But with the set, I'm better off than with Shako. My weapon only has two sockets (you have three in yours ... want to trade???) ... I think I'll put in some emeralds for dex ... not sure.
BUT THE BEST PART about Aldur's set is that you look too damn cool to NOT wear it all. I switch weapons and feel inadequate. You have this bright aura around. Every game I've played in, someone comments about it. So, having now gotten to Hell Ball by Level 80, I'm sticking with it.
Any ideas on how to improve Aldur's with socketing (I put perfect
Topaz's in the pelt to add 48% MF to the 50% MF that I get from the set. With chance gloves, I add another 33% MF
Good luck.

... My weapon only has two sockets (you have three in yours ... want to trade???) ...
Unfortunately I play single player now and don't trade (cos I cheat in SP and have unlimited runes, although I make myself find and mule everything else the normal way)
Don't play BNet any more (boo hoo) as owing to work and home commitments I play most D2 on my laptop at lunchtimes and on the train  - but if I did, I'd trade :)
My WB druid reached lvl 30 t'other day, won't be long till he can start wearing better eq. However at the moment I'm desparate for a SOJ and keep doing "just one more" Andy run with my Necro. I've played this game since it came out, including 3 years on BNet, and I've never even seen a single SOJ, let alone found one  Sorry I get like this sometimes and spend weeks on a SOJ quest, then give up and go back to "nomal" play again.
But hey, I have found 73 Manald Heals in the last week :worship: I'm gonna get Charsi to make me a ring mail coat from them!
If you make a melee Druid, ie pure fury, or hybrid fury/Rabies (recomended), aldurs armor+boots is teh best combo u can use if u cant afford a +2 all runeword armor. It gives nice live, dex and +150% bonus to AR. Im using it atm in my bear, and it works really good.
Weapon and helm, well, forget that crap, get jalals and gris caddy, or if u wanna go 2 hand weapon (pvm), there are a lot of alternatives here.

Nightmare Andy dropped another Aldur's Mace at lunchtime, this time with 2 sockets. That's 2 maces out of about 50 runs. (With quite good MF on players 8)
Thanks for tips re armour and boots :)
BTW, if you get the full set together and get the "glowing" character effect (I've not seen it) do the graphics change for your bear or wolf form too - i.e. do you keep the glow?
