They are still useful...it's just that you don't see it very often anymore. If I find the necro scyth...I will use it.

Well if you're on ladder and can upgrade Grim's Burning Dead you could make a rather interesting Scythe necro

Dunno how effective it'll be, grims not known for great damage. I'd go bowmancer if I wanted to wield a weapon. (Buriza, screw pus spitter)

i think most necros prefer having one hand open for a shield

As a Gaint Thresher it should be ok in damge, and you can leave the switch open for a shield.

An eth uped perfect one came with the item pack that they released on the mainpage for beta testing, I'll test it again, but in hell it's hard to great damage with it even in that condition.

Edit: why is everyone under the impression that deaths web is a shield? Or am I just under the impression that everyone is under the impression that deaths web is a shield?

Scythes are handy because the breakpoints are easily reached. They also have some good runewords.
